This should have been the evolution of Rewind 100.7. 80s, 90s, 2000s. A new "KISN".

Absolutely agree. Drive traffic from 3rd party platforms to what you own and control, which is your own website.

What's really interesting is that Broadway now has a "KOOL FM" and a "BOB FM", just like Impact Radio Group's stations in Boise. Their stations also have people that track for Broadway's stations.

I remember 97.5 had a LDS/Contemporary Christian format. "The Oasis" 820 AM also ran Latter-day Saint programming when it was operated by Bonneville.

Hip hop has changed quite a bit, and most of the new music coming out now is not "rap" like it was back in U92's heyday. It might make more sense to combine Mix and U92, and simulcast ESPN 700 on the other frequency.

I don't understand what's going on here. K288GY is a translator, which is now running its own format. KYMV has a very similar target audience (classic hits vs. 60s-70s) but is teasing a new brand Monday. Wouldn't it make more sense to tweak Rewind's playlist and rename it Kool FM? That way they don't have to do much marketing to get the audience to move over up the dial.

Thinking about demos at Broadway... they're missing F 25-54, unless you consider The Eagle (but that station might also be changing, given their ratings). Maybe AC to take a bite out of FM 100?

Fire up the format wheel! RadioInsight predicting a change is coming to KYMV 100.7. Any ideas? Seems like all the good formats are already taken. I'd love to hear something like the old Movin 100.7 (Rhythmic AC), or a resurrection of KJQ like what Todd Nukem is programming on X96 HD2.

Dell Loy can't be too happy about how the Broadway stations are doing.

Were they on 101.9? I thought they were from the ere when The End was on 107.5.

Reading through the Wikipedia page of KHTB... there were lots of formats on 101.9. What was your favorite? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KHTBI remember "Pop FM". Run locally by Blair Carter. That was fun to listen to. I also liked "Cat Country" before it was sold to Clear Channel and became "K102".

I think full service, personality driven community radio stations are needed now more than ever. Syndication, voice tracking and generic brands are diluting the real power of radio, which is to serve its local community. But to get back to the original post about podcasts, they're just another place to run ads. Anyone who thinks radio groups are in the business of programming, not sales, is sadly mistaken. Just like local TV stations that add an extra hour of news. It's not actually for the news, it's a place to run more political ads.

That's correct. The 1580/99.9 combo won't be changing. Initially we had planned to move the Goat to 96.7 and then put the new programming on 1580/99.9, but the oldies just hasn't sold well, which is unfortunate because studies show Baby Boomers control 70% of the disposable income in the U.S. There is a disconnect with advertisers and we haven't been able to bridge that gap, though we'll keep trying while bringing on more of a sure shot to 96.7 fmdj1: Have you tried Facebook advertising? Run a contest, and set appointments for entry. You can target the coverage area (even down to the ZIP code) and the 50+ age range.

Is 99.1 programmed locally? Meaning if a glitch happened, would it be with an in-house system like Nextgen, or something on the corporate level that could affect other stations with the same format?

I think the question is WHAT is alternative music? (as a radio format today)
Look at KYSR in Los Angeles, and their recently played songs include artists that could be found on any other station in the market:
The 1975 - Somebody Else Foo Fighters - Everlong The Killers - Smile Like You Mean It Billie Eilish - bury a friend SHAED - Trampoline Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks Post Malone - Allergic
Back in the 2000s, the format was a lot more clear and narrow. In fact, the term "alternative" means going against the mainstream. But today that doesn't really apply.
