CA yeah looks like they changed it back. I checked it Thursday morning, and by the afternoon it was different.

According to the schedule page on kslnewsradio.com, they've shortened Dave & Dujanovic by 1 hr to make room for 1 hr of Inside Sources. My guess is Boyd Matheson is sticking around for that daypart.

Rewind and The Eagle have usually been at the bottom of the pile in terms of numbers, but easy to sell spots group wide they cover specific demos. So I'm not sure there will be any changes ahead format wise.
Can someone explain to me why I Heart flipped KOSY (which I think was AC at the time) to a rock format (one of many on the dial)... only to put Lite AC back on a smaller signal? (and start over with branding).

I heard a promo teasing the announcement on Monday. It wasn't the same one that oldiesfunhouse referred to, though. From the way that they worded it, it almost sounds like they're announcing a show with 3 hosts. They need a flagship show, and for many stations the afternoon drive is the money maker for ad revenue.
I don't think a solo "host" for the afternoon news is cutting it, but I might be in the minority. If I was PD I'd move Caplan to 12:30-3 with a lighter "news & views" type show, and bring back the 2 (or 3) anchor "Utah's Afternoon News". More local, breaking news reporters hitting the streets and reporting live. If you're "Utah's News Station" - own it and cover local news again.

what i'd like to see-
LOCAL news : 12-1 political talk & national/local news : 1-2 afternoon news : 2-6 Sports & humor (like Nightside to attract the younger demo) : 6-10

Question- for stations that simulcast AM & FM (KNRS and KSL) do they total the ratings between the two signals, or are they only counting the one signal (for example, Nielsen reports ratings for KSL-AM)

It's interesting for sure. When they relaunched the Afternoon news block, they had fewer reporters contributing local stories. Seems like there's less local content on the air during both the morning and afternoon news shows. KSL TV experienced a drop in ratings when they strayed from their focus on investigative news towards soft stories with "values" in 2013. Other Bonneville news stations are adding more talk shows to their schedules, so maybe KSL is following suit, but maybe listeners here don't want more talk?

100.7 has added a lot of the 80's New Wave material that I like to their play list. Todd Nuke'em is now programming Rewind 100.7

From RadioInsight: "Bonneville News/Talk 1160 KSL/102.7 KSL-FM Salt Lake City dropped this month <copyrighted material deleted>. Ratings expert Chris Huff notes that this is the lowest recorded share for KSL." Read more here. Any thoughts on where the listeners went in May? And what happened?

Does anyone have any airchecks from a KNRS newscast with Andrew Peters and Abby Bonnell?

Looks like the website is up: easy991fm.iheart.com/Also the logo: Interesting they have "Salt Lake City" in the website's title. Wish they'd use KOSY branding with this one! Currently the call letters are with a Iheart CHR in Cedar Rapids.

The most effective marketing is through Facebook ads. You can target specific zip codes within your listening area. Tie those ads back to a contest/appointment promotion and you're good to go.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm not sure about ownership) but I thought Capital tried soft AC with KSQN 103.1? Why would they think ratings would be any better on AM?

I'm not sure what the ratings have been since Nexstar acquired the station, but with all the branding changes and the revolving door with talent, it tells me they haven't found something that works yet.

I'm not so sure the regulators would like the same company to own two of the big four network affiliates. The uncertainty for anyone at 13 and 30 can't be fun. I'm pretty sure those at 4 are pretty safe though. Duopolies are common these days- like "Hawaii News Now" with Honolulu's NBC and CBS affiliates combined, and even NBC/Telemundo stations sharing ownership in markets like L.A. I'm interested to see if Nexstar would sell KTVX, or scrap the news department and use KSTU's talent and branding on that station.
