A couple of new hires at KTVX...
First, Antonio Luján joins as a general assignment reporter. Luján was formerly a reporter at KNVO Brownsville-McAllen, TX.
Next, Glenn Willey is the new meteorologist in town. Previously from WTVD in Raleigh, NC.
Anyone I missed? It's so hard to keep track these days...

I used to work for KSL....the challenge with an integrated newsroom is employees are stretched thin. TV reporters recording debriefs for radio, radio reporters doing a live standup after their top of the hour live radio hit. DesNews reporters doing radio and TV. But, DMC is a great company to work for overall.

Yeah, I hope they don't implement any "cost cutting measures".

See, this is why this board is so great! We've got the inside scoop about WHEN a change is going to happen! I came across web.ksl.com/TV/content/50th/p-sub10.htm which shows a great history of the station (most likely only up to the 80s or 90s judging from the site). I also posted an update at newsutah.org

CA, I don't think there's any need to move this forum. Too much of a hassle, plus you'd have to deal with a hosting company that can handle the traffic, etc.
I enjoyed the discussions on this board, and "the purple one"....a few years back. They were lively, informative and were a great reflection of how exciting the radio biz is. I kinda miss that.

A format change is rarely, if ever, discussed with the staff of a radio station. The decision to change direction is usually up to the program director, music director or general manager....or even upper-upper management. If we ever get an inclination that something is up, we'll usually tweet it. Since newsutah.org is a news site, we won't post a rumor until it becomes fact, which is usually the day of the change anyway. I will, however, take rumors and investigate them further. Send me a tweet at @newsutah, and I'll check it out. By the way, I'm a long-time "lurker" here, but wanted to start contributing, so I created an account. I was on-air here in Utah, but left to pursue other opportunities. Nice to meet you all!

I suppose it goes without saying but we'll have any news here as well. Right, and I by no means want to take any focus away from this board. I'll link here if needed.

Hmmm...thanks for the heads up. I'll check into it. As for the alerts, if you get wind of a change coming, Tweet me at @newsutah.

I caught this tip from a tweet by @newsutah. New music package, plus a couple of new features for the show. I was surprised by this, since they got a new music package around the time they updated their set and debuted their new graphics, which wasn't too long ago.
Sounds like a generic package which could be heard in any market. The 10pm show had one reporter, and was heavy on national stories.

What's confusing to me, and I'm sure a lot of people, is the new name. Z? If you hear "Z 104", it doesn't give you a good idea of the music they play. Also, it's "104" and not "104.3" or even "104-3". We live in the age of digital radio tuners, not knobs, so you have a 1 in 5 chance of hitting the right frequency when you're in the 104s. Has there also been a noticeable tweak in the playlist? Because to me, it sounds like exactly the same station as it was yesterday.

As the one-newsroom approach marches on, Broadcast House is looking for a "Multimedia Journalist". The ideal candidate will be able to do live hits for radio, TV, and write copy for ksl.com and the Deseret News.
A dream come true for fresh-faced grads hitting the market, but could be difficult for more seasoned journalists to get used to.

KNRS-FM/AM, formerly "105.7 KNRS", is putting a little more emphasis on their talk format with a new imaging voice, logo and slogan. www.knrs.com/template/masthead/knrs-logo.jpg"Talk Radio 105-7 FM 570 AM" still has the same format and schedule, but isn't using "Family Values Talk Radio" as their tag anymore. I also noticed their local newscasts are a bit longer, and traffic reports are a bit more conversational. FOX News also runs every hour at the top of the hour. Their alliance with KSTU FOX 13 in SLC remains.
