My wife was pretty upset when My99.5 moved over to all Christmas. This station was one of the stations on her vehicle rotation.

I made a couple of attempts to listen to Unrivaled. That was painful.
After several shows I'm wondering if this is the high level for this show? Yea when there is a guest the show is bearable. When it is just the two hosts, I've found myself switching the radio to ESPN 700 as the sports discussions have been more interesting and insightful. Who thought it was a good idea to put Unrivaled on the afternoon drive home?
So far this "powered by KSL Sports" has been a step in the wrong direction. I am really wondering about the future of The Zone Sports Network.

I'm now making plans to listen to the tribute show.

Hey my interview on KRCL helped raise the ratings. (big grin)
Huh? Oh ok so one interview wouldn't do that. That's ok. (wink)

I think the album play on late Sunday evenings was a syndicated show IIRC. I always figured that the provider had already cleared the rights to play the whole album with some "behind the scenes" trivia between the songs.
I also remember listening to Doctor Demento on Sunday evenings on KRSP back in the 80's. It was a perfect way to end the weekend.
Thinking about these and the recent conversations about the late Sunday shows on 103.1 The Wave (Resurrection Radio replacing Unrest on the Seventh Day) made me wonder. Are there different rules for non-peak times on radio broadcasts when it came to airplay rules? I know that with 103.1 The Wave, the Sunday shows were the same on air as they were on streaming.

I was flipping around the stations today and noticed the two place holders on 24.4 and .5. I was also curious of what was going to end up there.

I'm curious about what measurement of popularity you're using. I'm using the comments and feedback about the "Unrest" and "Newer New Wave" shows posted on The Wave's Facebook page to judge their popularity. Since Nielsen doesn't rate individual radio shows, listener response is about all I have to go by. BTW, the Weber State games will be airing on 103.1 again this season, so I expect they'll be a lot of griping on The Wave's Facebook page when their regular programming is disrupted by the football and basketball games. 🙂 I was listening to 103.1 The Wave on Thursday when the Weber St/UofU football game came on. I kept the station going since I was wrapping up what I was working on and was listening to the game when the weather delay came on. When they realized that the delay was going to be significant, KLO 103.1 stated that they would go back to music and return when the game was back on (if it did). Out of curiosity I flipped over to KALL on the AM dial to see how they were handling the weather delay. It sounded like the play-by-play guys were scrambling to come up with something entertaining to state on the air. They were even giving live updates of security trying to tackle the drunk fans who had run out on the field. I guess the advantage of KLO is that when a situation like this pops up, they can return to the music format.

I was able to catch the first two shows. I was about ready to turn the radio off on the first day that it aired. I was caught a little off guard.
I like what I'm hearing so far. I wish they would play a little bit more on the industrial and techno music. Project Pitchfork, And One, Covenant, etc.
I think one of the host is the same guy who does a lot of the commercials I hear on 103.1, so that's been interesting.
I wonder when it will be added to the on-air advertising and on the digital platforms/social media.

The company that launched Antenna TV is creating a new digital subnet. Rewind TV will be like Antenna TV focusing on television shows from the 80's and 90's. According to their website: rewindtv.com/interactive-affiliate-map/KTVX 4.3 will be airing this subnet. It is scheduled for September 1st. I wanted to give a heads up as I know that there have been some interested in watching the change overs when they happen.

I noticed that The Wave is airing a new show called "Resurrection Radio" this Sunday evening. Based on what I've heard so far, it seems very similar in format and scope to Unrest On the Seventh Day. Resurrection Radio has two hosts, one of which goes by "Dirty Pete". His voice sounds exactly like the guy who voices some of the commercials on The Wave, so I suspect it's Pete Steiner from KBZN. So far there's no mention of the new show on either The Wave's Facebook or internet pages, so I'm guessing tonight's show might be a "trial balloon" to gage listener reaction to a replacement for Unrest. I've heard the first two shows. I stumbled upon the first episode almost by accident. It's not bad so far. I'm hoping it will grow on me. They could use a little bit more industrial and techno. But I'm still willing to give it a shot. I haven't heard any on air promotion yet. I was thinking about dropping the station an email letting them know that it's getting noticed.

If you missed the tribute to Cuzzin Brad on Thursday night, 103.1 The Wave is planning to re-play it on Sunday night 7-9pm (the normal time slot for Unrest on the Seventh Day).

I hope they find a way to continue those shows. The Newer New Wave has had different DJs. But I think that Unrest on the Seventh Day was CB's pet project. Last Sunday I listened to a bunch of musicians that CB would have played.

Todd Nukem did a very nice shoutout to him today during his show on X96. He covered when they worked together at KJQ and X96 and highlighted other parts of his career. He praised his talent at the mike, his genius at coming up with the funny and unexpected, and his impressions, particularly his impression of Fred Schneider, which he followed by dedicating "My Own Private Idaho" to him. It is one of the great things about this market, that even with people working for competing companies, there is a bigger broadcasting family vibe that seems to keep personalities here even when they move to different stations. I wish I could have heard that. Thank you for posting this. I also agree that there is a sense of family from some of the longtime DJs in the area.
