FWIW, it appears that 103.3 "Lite FM" in Logan will be the first local station to flip to Christmas music 24/7. The countdown clock on the station's website says that 103.3 will once again become "the Christmas station" at Noon on Monday, November 1st. litefm1033.com/

Moved to a new thread since it's no longer September, or even October. There's a good article in Radio Ink today. radioink.com/2021/11/01/here-comes-santa-claus/Mike McVay likes Friday Nov 12 for the flip. FM100 has already confirmed they're going all-Christmas again this year, but we already knew that. Based on previous years, that flip should be somewhere around the 12th. Besides them and Lite FM, The Eagle seems likely. There's no more Easy 99.1, so maybe someone else will try?

We flipped Kosy at midnight, though I'm still broadening the playlist, so it's somewhat limited at the moment

For those who care (or who entered 103.3 Lite FM's contest), the first Christmas song played on 103.3 at Noon today was "It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas" by Johnny Mathis.
November 12TH seems like a good bet for FM 100.3 to make the switch to all Xmas. With November 11TH being a paid holiday (Veteran's Day) for some people, a certain amount of those who have Veteran's Day off will probably take Friday the 12TH off work as well. I'd think that would mean more people would be listening to the radio than usual over the holiday weekend.

Apologies, Frank. I remember you flipped last year as well. Sorry I forgot to mention you.
Somebody mentioned today that the December ratings period starts Nov 11, which as David said is also a holiday. I think the 11th was also the flip day last year.

No worries. I consider us a pretty small player in it anyways I have added several more songs in the rotation so today is not nearly as stale as yesterday!

Unfortunately, "stale" is about how every station's Christmas play list can most charitably be described. I get it that most listeners want the evergreen songs. But I am beyond tired of hearing the same old same old.

But I am beyond tired of hearing the same old same old. I get that. It is hard to get away from that. With ours, we certainly have the same, but we're also trying to mix in some fresher stuff from various artists, particularly some with local appeal like Kurt Bestor and David Archuleta. I still have a lot to add in before the season ends. We have just over 300 sings in rotation right now.

Personally, I enjoy hearing the Christmas classics from the 1950's through the 1980's, but then that's probably because I'm pushing 60.🙂 Christmas is also about the only time of year when it's acceptable for radio stations to play songs from prior to 1980, when they normally wouldn't air any songs recorded before 1985.
I don't know if anyone is even attempting to write new Christmas songs in 2021. Most of the time when artists record a Christmas album, they stick to performing the standard Xmas tunes. I get that hearing the same old songs every holiday season is frustrating for some, but radio stations can only play what's available to them.

I would also say that it's kinda fun hearing those classics on new, modern audio processing. I like the subject of audio processing and hearing Bing sing White Christmas over an Omnia.9 or Omnia.11 is just magic!

Sounds like a corporate mandate but it should prove interesting. When 103.1 was Sunny they went from nowhere to pretty good when they went Christmas. My 99.5 was already doing pretty well.

My wife was pretty upset when My99.5 moved over to all Christmas. This station was one of the stations on her vehicle rotation.
