Really? This Ignite! is the new automation system, now? Didn't they just get one back in 2008 right after I got laid off from being a studio camera operator there (for budget cut reasons)? (I suppose I could reapply now, and could have a while back, but I want to stay eligible for their game shows--which I unfortunately hadn't thought of in time for while Deal or No Deal was on.)
So the Chyron Camio has already become outdated by today's TV broadcasting standards, even though that was just about 3 1/2 years ago? What's gonna replace Ignite! 3-4 years from now, then?
Oh, shoot, I missed the September 1 thing (but that's no biggie, I guess). At least I'll have to set my recorder to catch the Monday (Labor Day) thing.
But Ken, can you beg and plead with them not to lose that long-time circle-5 logo? That's been with us for my whole life, and I don't ever want to see it gone!

Well, great! I like it! Good system! Hopefully whoever gets the info. first to share it will have it before the fact most of the time. And sometimes that does happen, I think.
Sometimes we do hear on the radio ahead of time that "101.9 will change from KKAT to Pop FM," and then "Pop FM's bubble will POP and 107.5 The End will move to 101.9, while KKAT will come back as Country Legends and go to 107.5," etc. I did happen to catch and record the switch of 101.9 from Pop to KZHT!
So see, if I had been an avid listener to Movin', then I would likely have been made aware of their switch to Rewind ahead of time. Unfortunately no avid listener who had been listening while the ads were airing is a poster to here, I guess. But Timmy did come close.
So if we happen to get ones that are ahead of time, that'll be great! I love the potential this has!

Oh, so we missed the countdown and everything already, I guess. Right?
Thanks for posting that, though!

Heheh, Levoix. Yep! Of course you know there will be no grand countdown or other bravado to precurse that, or fade out/in or dissolve in the flow of that, right?

I never really met Chunga personally, though I was no more than 2 feet away from him and didn't know it. So what magical spell are you under at the moment that allows you to know that now, so you can tell us now?

Oh, so this might be the only version of proboards in regular use so far, so it looks like I might have just gotten some things about it mixed up with some other but similar board systems. Sound about right?
Hey, thanks for crediting me with the idea on those new threads! Cool! Yeah, thanks for taking it seriously! Even location changes would be appropriate for those threads (though extremely rare they are).
I see that those are locked so that only you can post the updates. Is there a concern that other people posting to them might abuse the urgency of the threads and then there might be a "little boy who cried wolf" effect on the bookmarks to those threads? So then... would someone else... like say, Levoix... post that kind of news to the regular subforums, and then you'd copy them to those special threads?
Let's see what I hear about now that I've bookmarked those threads! Let's see if I catch more of those flips (although I don't see one happening for a while, since we just had a few or several, as Levoix and others have noted)!
Thanks, CA! Mike

Ahah! There we go! I guess there are different versions of ProBoards. Heh, I hope the easier versions are the newer ones. Are there different versions of pb? Or maybe I'm getting some of pb mixed up with some of VBulletin or MyBB. Are they similar? Anyway, well cool, so I've been able to set up e-mail notices for some threads on this site now! So now the next step is for us to agree that we could have a thread that all format/brand-flip-related updates would go into, and then I (and any others interested) would bookmark that one and set it up with e-mail notifications! Whow, this could be really exciting! Whattya think?

Thanks for the compliment. Well, hang on for a minute while I look up the word "convoluted."
You know, I was so used to ProBoards having a subscription feature (like... subscribe to e-mail notifications of all new responses, or just all new responses to our own responses, or all new responses in just a given thread, etc.) that I hadn't yet noticed until now that this site doesn't seem to have that feature! Hmm, I'm freshly bewildered!
Okay, well since that seems to be a bit of a damper, then-uh... hmm... heheh, well...? Hmm....
Anyway, yeah, still, hearing the way those sat feeds swapped might have still been interesting to me. Small detail, but I like knowing those things. I'll read that thread you gave me the link to. Thanks.

Yeah, CAwas, naw... I wouldn't want to put you through all that extra effort just for me. You have a good thing going here. But maybe we can just copy all news to an "alert thread," and then anyone interested can subscribe to that for e-mail alerts. That might just work! What do you think?
Yeah, I either hadn't heard of or don't remember that thing with the KKAT AM thing. Even that transition might have been mildly interesting: last song plays, then some big "banner" announcement/ribbon-cutting type of announcement, then... just talking. Hmm...
Yeah, Levoix, I'm on the site with some purple in it, too. Hey, you know, it still operates. It's not as lively as it once was or as this one is, but it still gets new responses now and then. But... wait, isn't it actually more blue than purple?

Wait... doesn't management count as staff, too? Also, is it sometimes possible to get that info. from one of those members of management that you mentioned, then?
Will you post to here anything that you've heard might happen (that you're allowed to say), even if it's not fact, yet, just so that in case it does become fact, then at least we can be prepared and watching for it?
Haha, I like how you just assumed I already knew what a "tweet" is. What if I had been someone who didn't already have a Twitter account or even know what Twitter is?
How does "sending someone a tweet" work, anyway? I've always thought that in order for someone to hear our tweets, they have to be following us. Are you saying that we can actually send a public mention and that person or company will hear it even if they're not following us? Twitter would be a rather closed system if that weren't the case, wouldn't it?
(By the way, I've always wondered why some people treat user names there as if the "@" belonged as part of the user names, even though in fact it does not. The @ symbol there is just for that public mention function. A d can replace the @ for sending a private message. Any idea why so many people, including Jimmy Fallon, have errantly been treating the @ symbol as if it were part of evryone's user name like that?)

I think that's perfectly fine, Levoix. Working together should be mutually beneficial and I'll welcome that. Maxx, I understand what you mean. There have been times when I've been tipped off to things that were going to happen, but that was strictly on the Q.T. Really I shouldn't have been told at all since I'm not part of those organizations and it was supposed to be confidential. Naturally I respected that and didn't repeat anything until I was given the green light which was usually at the same time it went public anyway. That's the nature of the radio business. People are paranoid. I think it's generally taken farther than needed, but that's the decision of those in charge. Hey, what does "Q.T." mean? Yeah, it's too bad. But still, at least we get to hear about those things that Levoix and you find out about ahead of time and are green-lighted about. But anyway, if a station is about to flip, they'll be telling us on the air a little while ahead, anyway. If we're avid listeners, then we'll catch it that way. The problem with that is exactly that: we'd have to be really avid listeners to all the stations in order to catch the who-knows-how-seldom flip they might have. So... not only can we hear some of that info. ahead of time from the heads who still choose to tell you ahead of time, but if you happen to hear about one coming up on one of your favorite stations or another one you were just happening to listen to at the time. That second way is really hit-and-miss, though. But hopefully those two ways will still give us enough heads-up that we can catch some of those flips when they're about to happen. Sometimes what I've seen is that if I had just been checking in on this site or the other site like it often enough, I might have caught a flip or two in time. I know there's an e-mail notification system for any response to our initial comments or responses here, but I wish there was an e-mail notification system we could get on that would alert us to flip-specific things. Levoix, can you create a system like that for your site, where every time you get a bit of news that a station is about to flip, you'd put an alert about it in that "box"? Or maybe even you, CAwas? Does this site's format have a tool--or can you get one--that would allow you to add any flip alert to a special e-mail notification "box"? I guess the closest thing to that that we already know of here would be to have a thread that you copy everybody's randomly placed flip alerts to, which those interested in getting e-mail alerts to could be subscribed to. Is that about as slick and simple as it might get here, or is there an even more slick type of thing possible for that?

From DXStuBoy, a
Or actually, longer than that, even. At least long enough for you to hurry and grab your camera and take a shot (albeit a bit blurry one) of it.
Cool that you spotted those!

Hmm, quotes around the channel names and "chopper." Curious...
Anyway, well at least channel 4 here (KTVX) does have some subchannels (2).
Haha, yeah, that sharing stuff sounds kind-of funny!
