Hmm... happy Christmas.
Thanks for the info., guys, even though I guess maybe nobody knew ahead of time that this was going to happen.
How come people aren't submitting these to CAwas here for them to go into the Breaking News area?

Oh shoot! I wish I had seen all the hate mail on that facebook page too! But now there IS no facebook page for the old station/format.
Happy Christmas, though!

Who's this supposed "English teacher," Peter?
{Looking around, and upon seeing none, that leaves me to wonder, especially since nobody has said anything "teacherish" or directly corrective, that should or could earn them that badge seriously or even jokingly...}
Well, anyway, happy Christmas! :-)

Well, OK, then. I guess At least thanks for doing what you can do when you can do it. :-)
(I'm just crossing my fingers that the next time this kind of switch happens, I'll be lucky enough to catch it on a recorder.)
Yeah, even if March Mountain's posting had triggered a bookmark alert, it would have been too late for me to have heard the transition. But he of course doesn't have the "key" to your breaking news threads, anyway (being a newbie--or just... not being you, haha).
Okay, well have a very happy Christmas, WasinNJ! Mike

Oh NO! I listened to that show a few weeks ago, but must have missed a point where they mentioned our loss of him. I just know that there was a new voice and I thought it was just a fill-in. HMM! Sorry to hear him go. And 63 isn't really all that old for dying, either. His family and we will miss him.
I guess I won't mention the "end of the world" in this response, even though this is the date I'm writing this on.
Happy Christmas, though, Mike

How come nobody's alerting us of these via that BREAKING NEWS section of the boards?

Can I have one, please, even though I don't have a tone arm for you?
What do you want a tone arm for, anyway? Wait, are you talking about... from a record player? 16" vinyl players? Have I ever seen one that big?
What would a talk station want with a vinyl player these days anyway?
Happy "end of the world," and happy Christmas!
Mike

The world really IS ending! :-p
See the rest of my response at "WHY did the BREAKING NEWS system fail me?! (KOSY)"!
Mike
(Oops, where's my stray-apostrophe eraser when I need it?
"...And let's us know that they are building a new station for us ect..." Well, etc., anyway....)

Oh my gosh, the world really IS ending! :-p
Hey, how come, when something that the Breaking News section was designed for comes along, like KOSY's sudden flip out of Christmas music early, to a whole new format...
...the system FAILS ME?
Despite its HUGELY BAD timing, I really wanted to know about this switchover so that I could have heard the format transition and record it! What happened?
Happy Christmas, though, Mike

Yeah, okay, I'm watching right now and they are still using their temporary set.
As for rebuilding master control and stuff, that's really the part that fascinates me the most: rebuilding a sytem that you must keep in function at the same time. Ya just about have to have a whole new system being built in a "swap location," and then, once it's all built with dummy signals and all dry-run tests are done and pass with complete functionalty, wait until a usage valley (as opposed to peak) time and then quickly just swap your dummy ins and outs out for your live ones! That's something I wish I could be there to watch and record video of!

Because last I saw (and that was last night), they were not done building the new full-blown set, and if the suppostions here that they would switch to HD with the switch to the new set, then... well I guess that's why they're not in HD yet.
From what I remember seeing, they're still using the new interim set. I'll watch again tonight.

I was thinking of saving the best for last (these thanks are centered around the Christmas-to-New-Year-transition week), but then my flow wouldn't be quite right. (As you read on, see the * below for why.)
I'd like to give K-Star, KSRR 1400 a big shout-out of thank-you for being the one Wasatch Front station that I know of who is willing to hold out and not shut off the all-Christmas music RIGHT after Christmas like the other stations do! (If anyone here knows some K-Star staff, please pass this on to them. Or better yet, one of you IS K-Star staff and already sees this!)
Thank you, KSRR, for being the lovely station who's willing to keep the all-Christmas music going for a few days after Christmas so that we can have a smoother, softer transition into New Year's Day, rather than just... POOF, and it's all (or almost all*) gone on the day right after Christmas!
I just wish you were FM so we can get that nice quality that FM brings, and STRONGER so that we can hear you in the Salt Lake area (even though your transmitter tower is down here in the Provo/Orem area).
(*"Almost all gone:") Thank you, FM 100 (...Point Three, haha) for your having a nearly all-Christmas format for most of the season, even though you go back to some non-Christmas music during Soft Sunday Sounds. And thanks for your willingness to not end your all-Christmas music with just no Christmas music any more in the few days after, but leaving a Christmas song in the rotation betweene every few regular songs, as your way of making the transition softer. I just wish you would let your all-Christmas format linger for at least a day or two longer before moving to the tapered mix.
Thank you, Today's 106.5, for having a nearly all-Christmas music format also, event though you go back to Show Tunes on Saturday nights, and even though you go back to some non-Christmas music during Sounds of the Sabbath, and even though you don't extend the all-Christmas for even one day after Christmas either, but for having a few Christmas songs here and there for a few days, I guess. That is... even though I don't catch them because they're so few and far between that it seems like they're not on; I have to spot them on the playlist. I hope that in future years you'll have your transitional mix include a Christmas song a lot more often (like 100's does), or even better, have all-Christmas for a few more days like I requested of FM100.
So, as far as these Christmas-to-New-Year-transition-week thank-yous go, that means that the big winner is... (drum roll, please!)...
K-Star, KSRR 1400 AM, who doesn't go back to regular programming until about Dec. 30 some years! THANK YOU!
Merry Christmas!
