I agree with SF. Early Monday is prime-time for maintenance of all kinds since the fewest people are listening.

This is actually a great real world example of the importance of height for FM. Their power level couldn't go any higher than the 100 watts effective radiated power they had before, but with the additional height it can get out better.

I think I'm in the minority but the only major problem I've had with noise on AM was several decades ago with that dimmer light I mentioned a while back. And that's even with using some "antennas" that would make MacGyver proud. CFL & LED lights in the house? No problem. Driving under LED traffic lights? Never noticed them. Even the battery powered pocket radio works fine as long as it's at least 10 feet away from my big tower computer. This was even true when I used to live in a big condo complex. I don't know why but I'll take it.

If you missed it last month, Apple now has the rights to the Charlie Brown specials and I think for the first time ever the Great Pumpkin was not on broadcast TV. This caused an uproar on social media. Apple has now given in and announced that the Thanksgiving and Christmas specials will be shown on PBS. I'm a little surprised (though pleased) that Apple gave in, but much more surprised that the outlet they made a deal with is PBS. At least this way it won't have to be padded out to an hour like ABC has done for something like 20 years and I would hope PBS won't put underwriting or promos in the middle of the show.
The Thanksgiving special will air this Sunday 11/22 at 6:30 on KUED 7.1 and 7:30 on PBS Kids 7.3

The buyer and purchase price are correct. It's been said that it will need a new transmitter/power/etc, but that has not been established as a fact yet.
There's an interesting fact in the timing here. James Su and Eric Palacios have worked together before. Palacios bought KADD (about halfway between Las Vegas and St George) from Su. That paperwork was filed back in June and closed in August. I find it interesting that it took 6 more months to reach a deal on KDYL. It would seem whatever Su was looking to sell 1060 for back then wasn't judged worth it.
When judging why someone would want to buy an AM today, in addition to what David said you have to consider the audience. Palacios' other stations are in Spanish so it's a pretty good bet that 1060 is going Spanish as well. The Spanish stations in the market are 4 rimshot FM's plus 3 AM's and according to Radio Locator all are classified as either Regional Mexican or Spanish Hits (CHR). Since there are Spanish formats that aren't yet represented here, if a listener wanted to hear that format they'll go to where the format is regardless of band. We've seen that before.

The original announcement on KJZZ said the simulcast would last until the Late Late Show. I think I only saw that mentioned once though the crawl continued through primetime. I didn't note exactly when the KUTV transmitter stabilized but both stations were running the same programming for quite a while. KJZZ switched back to its regular feed at 10PM with no fanfare though the crawl during FBI:MW did alert viewers.
Their website (once I could figure out how to view it) says the issue is resolved and that the CBS primetime shows will be available at cbs.com at no charge on Wednesday. It also said that the issue affected Dish Network but not Comcast. It didn't mention DirecTV. It had been a while since I'd heard how either retransmitter was receiving their feeds. At least as far as Dish goes they are apparently just using the OTA signal. Their uplink is presumably somewhere in the Salt Lake area so this makes a lot of sense to me since it's simpler and probably cheaper.

CBS programming has preempted KJZZ programming on 14.1 until at least the Late Late Show tonight. They just switched the feed at 7:30. It looks like it's a big problem and will be a late night.

I'm watching the data stream on the over the air signal and it's a mess. Mostly it's what looks like hundreds of tiny pieces of data instead of a couple of dozen like it should be if it was working properly. Maybe random data like the white noise on an analog signal? The proper signal is popping in every once in a while. Obviously the engineers are scrambling to get something back on the air by 7. CBS has 3 premieres tonight and they don't want those wiped out. It would have been so much more convenient if this happened when the only thing in primetime was reruns. FWIW, through the magic of channel sharing, besides 2.1/KUTV and 2.2/KMYU this is also affecting 14.2/Comet and 14.5/DABL.

FWIW most of that is amp nonsense and tracking garbage. The real URL is: deadline.com/2020/09/e-w-scripps-buys-ion-media-for-2-65b-with-berkshire-hathaway-investment-1234583423/That happened a couple of months ago. I don't think it's going to amount to much of anything other than maybe consolidating Scripps diginets as subchannels on the ion stations instead of syndicating them. That would probably boot the three shopping channels that are there now. ion (and before that Pax) has basically been what we would now call a diginet for over 20 years, which itself is just the basic cable model using broadcast stations to insure cable carriage through must carry.

The thing I would be concerned about if I were working on all of this would be to make sure KMRI gets back on the air before it's been silent for a year and turns into a pumpkin. With winter coming that could complicate things.

Since you mentioned it I'll just point out that the Salt Lake board does specify "... Includes the Humpy rimshots, the Logan area and central Utah stations that rimshot Utah County." Either one is OK. To answer your question, if you can specify an AAC feed to your speaker you can use ice10.securenetsystems.net/KMGR There's also a web player link at their website midutahradio.com/

That's not a registrar, that's the hosting provider. "Nothing is impossible. Some things are just harder to believe than others." - Euclid Bullfinch I believe that, but this case stretches that belief. If I were going for a justification I would have gone with seller's remorse.

What about K252DI? Isn't that still doing its baffling simulcast of 107.5? If Barry Wood can get the Frandsens interested that would be a game changer.
