What’s happening with The Wave. I listened earlier this morning and it sounds a lot like 107.5 was back in 2004 and beyond. Now I am listening in the 10:00 hour and it is sounding like a cross between how 107.5 The End and X96 were back in the day. I have also noticed that 101.1 the Wave is no longer going by The Next Wave of New Wave. It is now going by 103.1 The Wave The Classic Alternative station. I have also noticed that Cousin Brad is gone. Or at least he isn’t doing mornings anymore. In fact, he is not even mentioned on the website. The Air Talent that is mentioned on the website is Chet the Pinhead Tapp, Andrea, and Mr. West. What happened to Cousin Brad? I also noticed that 103.1 The Wave is now automated on week day mornings. Is Mike Summers still there on morning weekends?

If The Wave is automated on weekday mornings, it's news to me. Last I heard, Chet Tapp is on air 6 AM-10 AM weekday mornings, Andrea is on from 10 AM-3 PM, and Mr. West covers the afternoon drive slot from 3 PM-7 PM. Late evenings and overnights are the only time I know of that The Wave is automated.
Cuzzin Brad is still at the station, but he's only on weekend evenings now. He's still hosting "Unrest On the Seventh Day" on Sunday nights, and Mike Summers is still on air Saturday & Sunday mornings from 6 AM-10 AM. I have no idea why the station's website hasn't been updated to include Cuzzin Brad's and Mike Summers' air shifts on the weekend.

The "Your Classic Alternative" line has been playing for a while now. I don't know why Cuzzin Brad was moved to weekends, but he is still with the station.

There is someone who signed up with the member name "cuzzibrad" (typo maybe?) who could be him. Does anyone know if he uses a yahoo address?

In regards to the musical changes mentioned, the audiences only continue to change over time. 1990 is now 30 years in the past. So if you're talking about finding an audience for (what was already niche) music from approx. 1978-1992, your audience is likely only a few of the meters in the Nielsen Audio sample. As X96 continues to play a few alternative hits from the 1990s (and one would assume K-Bear plays "rock" hits from the decade), KLO-FM's niche is probably in keeping the older end of that audience and maybe even an audience that feels forgotten by the 'Jack FMs' of the world, which mainly stick to pop.
Personally, I find the music mix really pleasant for a weekday "at work" listen, although I don't love Andrea's presentation. Outside of Utah, popular alternative / singer-songwriter music that was heavily spun from c. 1996 - 2002 on stations like KBEE or KQMB have largely been ignored by radio (except maybe some AAA stations). I suspect there's an audience for it.

if KLO played more 90s and 2000s alt hits i think that could fill a hole in the market. Seems like a good selling opportunity for 25-44 demos as well.

If there was anything better to switch it to, I would probably have dropped KLO from my car radio presets. 80's alternative is all I am familiar with. By the 90's, I lost interest in the genre because it got so weird and navel gazing. At least to me, the music is just not that approachable. If KLO goes any later (which of course it will soon or later), then I probably will find something else to take its place. Maybe KBYU, the home of REALLY old oldies.

While theres a good amount of 80s alt i'm not familiar with or don't like, i do like some of it and more than that, i appreciate that someone plays those songs and that the variety is available. just wish with all these stations there were more selections to choose from. as is, i listen to radio now less than i ever could have imagined.
