When I contacted KTMW about 20.4 they told me that Exidos Radio/TV purchased their Spanish Fork transmitter and may spin it off to a separate station. They were not certain if it would stick on 20.4 or not. KTMW is planning to offer different content on 20.2, 20.3 and possibly 20.4 if Exidos has it's own digital transmitters. Other than putting a shopping channel on one of them to help pay for the bills they didn't know what was going to go on the other digital sub-channels. I was recommending RTV (Retro Television Network)
What I was confused about is that I could get the digital 10.1 (and the sub-channels) in Clearfield about a year ago then they suddenly stopped. Even going to a friends house in Layton or Kaysville the station wouldn't come in. Did they reduce their broadcast power?

So I checked 25 after reading this thread and 25.1 came up. However it had no sound. I did have sound on 39.1
No digital sub-channels on either broadcast.

Hmm...5.3 hasn't had sound in a few days? Everything ok?

According to the Television Bureau of Advertising 39.2% of the SLC market does NOT subscribe to cable. You add satelite into the mix and that number rises to 47.2%. Apparently the number of non-cable subscribers is growing and they are warning advertisers to beware. I would urge all of you to support your local TV stations (and watch their ads) but do not support the greed of the cable company. Free TV is good TV. Neflix ($9/month) and official websites also help me catch up on the small handful of shows that I would actually want to watch from a cable channel.

I'm also very concerned by this. Comcast has already stated that they want to pull Universal Sports to the cable-only club.

I was aware that KUER was broadcast on KUEN TV on digital sub-channel 9.91. I just found out that KBYU-FM is broadcast on the KBYU-TV channel 11.1 alternate audio feed.
Do these broadcasts add to the ratings for the stations?
Are there any other stations broadcast over TV?
Thanks

Thanks for listing these. Now I know what stations to avoid. I can't stand an overdose of Christmas before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Interesting, David James had listed on his blog a 25-30% non-cable viewer rate.
If KJZZ comes up for sale, I'd love to see them return to the original call letters. KXIV. I'd love to see additional sub-network channels as well. I've been enjoying those.

Last night the Utah Jazz announced that they would only be airing the games on FSN Utah (that are not picked up nationally) until 2021. Utah Jazz Fail! If I were a sponsor for TV, I'd demand a 20% discount. Let's cut off a portion of our viewing audience all in the name of greed. No I will not get cable. It's not worth the money.

FSN - TNT - NBA TV If you don't have cable or satellite no Jazz games for you. Schedule came out and no games on 14 this year? Or should I say 14.1 Yes, lets take a lesson on how to alienate a portion of your fanbase.

I'm in that 20% (and I wonder if it's become higher lately due to the economy). My reason, the price for cable/satellite was not worth it for the 3-5 cable channels that I would watch. Even then it was usually only one or two programs on those channels. I found that I didn't miss the shows that much when I cut the cord.
I agree that KJZZ should pick up a sub-channel or two. RTV would be good for retro shows. The new .2 Network is coming out (and built to be pre-empted for local news/sports/events/etc.) If they wanted to stick with a sports theme there is America One or the new @sportstv channel. TuffTV would also be a good fit (it's under the same management umbrella as RTV). Besides the Utah Jazz, KJZZ has contracts to carry Utah State and Weber State games which could be placed on the sub-channels as well.

More of a technical question, could the Spanish language channels transmit CC of the current program in English? I'd probably watch more of the programing in the Spanish language with this option since I don't speak the language. It would be more of a chance to share the Hispanic culture and build understandings.

I had asked Fox13 if they had any plans for digital sub-channels.
The response:
We do not have any definite plans at this time. Thank you FOX 13 Programming
