Finally dropping the four feeds of the same channel, KTMW 20-4 is now carrying exitos TV, which I believe is still on analog here in Salt Lake.
They still have 3 copies of the main channel, but its a start.

I checked it out when I got home. From what I saw it may be affiliated with Multimedios Television. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multimedios_Televisionwww.multimedios.tv/I've emailed KTMW a week ago to ask about plans but they never responded back. Actually only Fox13 has ever responded to my inquiries about sub-channels.

What did 13 say?

Yep, it's Multimedios. There was an email address just on screen. My Spanish is way too rusty to figure out what's going on though.
The lower thirds are horrible though. They're halfway up the screen!

I had asked Fox13 if they had any plans for digital sub-channels.
The response:
We do not have any definite plans at this time. Thank you FOX 13 Programming

I had asked Fox13 if they had any plans for digital sub-channels. The response: We do not have any definite plans at this time. Thank you FOX 13 Programming With all the Fox shows from the past years too many to name you think a good sub-channel would be the Best and Worst of Fox Well I guess you can go by this list of old Fox shows en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_programs_broadcast_by_FoxThat would be an awesome channel!! As for KTMW no surprise it would be a Spanish channel if I recall they also own 1550 Am A Spanish station. My question is for all of you in Utah is there any English channels left Starting to feel like a minority anymore

Oh, English still outweighs Spanish by a lot. Remember though, Spanish is a language not a format. There are a lot of different formats within Spanish language, just like with English. Ah those old Fox shows. Especially some of the really early ones. Stuff like "Werewolf" and "Beans Baxter" and "Mr. President" starring George C. Scott! And I do have to thank "Flying Blind" for introducing me to Téa Leoni. Loved the concept on that show, though the execution left a lot to be desired.

How many minoroty language channels could SLC support? I've read about a few low-power stations doing around a dozen channels, covering numerous ethnicities. Would that fly here?

I would say it depends on the minority and how many of a particular group there are, and how much it costs to acquire/produce the programming. The ethnic breakdown for Utah can be found here: quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/49000.html You can drill down the individual counties.

Los Angeles has a few Asian stations that seem to do pretty well. I don't know how much of Salt Lake County's 3% would watch/listen to an all Asian station. That is the biggest ethnic population percent wise other than hispanic that I see from that data. This whole discussion some how is very interesting to me .

More of a technical question, could the Spanish language channels transmit CC of the current program in English? I'd probably watch more of the programing in the Spanish language with this option since I don't speak the language. It would be more of a chance to share the Hispanic culture and build understandings.

That is the biggest ethnic population percent wise other than hispanic that I see from that data. If the Hispanic population of Utah is 12% and can support, what, 6 or 8 TV signals, then you'd think that maybe an Asian station could get viewers. Of course the Asians speak different languages, so the programming would have to be divided among them. I'd be curious to know how many people speak which languages in Utah. Could the Spanish language channels transmit CC of the current program in English? Telemundo did that for a few years. I think they've quit doing it now.

20.4 was having some difficulties about a half hour ago as I was going past headed for the Emmy's(R) on CBS. The video was bouncing back and forth between what it looked like it was supposed to be and colorbars and the digital signal dropped out completely a couple of times. I'll have to check back later.

As of this post it is doing the same thing, alternating between color bars and choppy footage. Also, a persistent telephone dialing noise is present. Not to forget, the video looks terribly over modulated. Something is off.

Whatever it was seems fixed, but I'm not sure it's better now. I think they were just showing a dead body at an accident site.
I think I prefer the bars.
