I've listened for a couple of hours. I was hoping it would be something in-between Classic Rock and Alternative Rock (just my dream). But it's really more in-between Classic Rock and Oldies, or maybe AC. There is a wide variety of songs, which is good. Not sure if it's for me though. I'm not trying to be a curmudgeon, but there's plenty of "safe" stations out there. It's a bit "ho-hum" for my tastes.

At around 2:20 I heard (I think) Bonnie Raitt's Love Sneakin' Up and again at about 4:20. Thought that was an interesting rotation...

KYLZ's coverage (when everything gets shaken out and tested an all that) is identical to the other Humpy rimshots (97.5, 101.5, 103.1, etc) so the reception reports should turn out the same too.
Michael J, I'm sure the companies that own these stations would love to be closer to Salt Lake, but that isn't going to happen. Humpy is just barely over the distance required from Farnsworth to make sure it isn't short spaced. I'm afraid you're stuck with them. I believe there will be 5 more rimshots moving to Humpy over the next few years.
95.9 KMGR moving up from the Nephi area. 103.9 KNYN moving from 99.9 105.5 KDWY moving from 105.3 107.1 KEGH moving from 106.9 Brigham City 107.9 KUDD moving from Promontory Peak
Back tot he new 104.7. In some ways it reminds me of a different incarnation of 105.7; River Part 1. Kinda like what Jack is supposed to be, but limited to rock songs.

I know it's early, but are there going to be live dj's on the air at some point? I can only listen in the afternoons, in the fringe, with an APS-13 antenna and a Yamaha tx-930 tuner. Maybe I missed something in the mornings.
The mix of songs sounded more intriguing tonight. I also appreciated the bit from the general manager, that makes it more interesting to me. A real person saying something (sharing a good story was nice) goes a long way. Also, it was a much clearer signal.

I think that GM story is in relative tight rotation. Makes sense. There isn't much else personality driven on the station yet.
That being said, I really like the station. I've been giving it a fair amount of listening time and I like the music mix. It's a real rock station, but it isn't pigeon-holed to one particular era. Maybe a good way to describe it is "classic rock and stuff that similar" or something weird like that. KBER it isn't.
One other thing I want to bring up is that the processing is very good. The fidelity gives it nice headroom (meaning you can hear the high notes clearly) and there's very noticeable stereo separation. Never underestimate how much help good processing is.
One thing that concerns me is the seeming lack of advertising. I realize that Millcreek is in a tough spot, being under bankruptcy protection, but guys you've GOT to spend a little money. There's been a lot of talk about the station among the radio geeks, but the public doesn't know you exist. If the public doesn't know, they'll never listen. I'll bet almost everyone still thinks you'll get VFX on 104.7. Word of mouth and the accidental run-in can help, but that shouldn't be your primary weapons. Sometime soon, we need to see an ad campaign. I haven't heard a peep out the station except from this board. Has anyone else?

I saw an ad on TV last night for 104.7. I think it was during O'Reilly.

The processing is solid. The AGC isn't too overpowering. I heard a song that had a spoken intermission and had to actually turn up the radio to hear it. But all the music/liners sound very open, yet consistent. Wonder if they're Omnia or Orban? Anyone know?

I agree that the audio sounds really good. KBER and others amp up the volume to the point it is distorted on my Grundig. Even the commercials (as I listen right now) are too loud. Turn it down and equalize it, that would help. 104.7 doesn't have that problem. The only thing I noticed is the signal is weak over by Cottonwood Canyon but I suspect this is because the Meridian Peak booster is behind the hill.

A commercial during O'Reilly? That's an excellent start. His show isn't cheap I'll bet. It has nice ratings and the demos should be right where 104.7 is aiming (male 25-54 I'd guess.)
That Salt Lake booster placement does seem a little odd. I wonder why they ddn't put it on Ensign with everyone else and where the Bountiful booster is. I notice that going past Ensign on I-15 that there's a fairly significant section where the signal is pretty weak. Maybe the two signals are interacting in a bad way?

That would be funny is 104.7 bought a national buy: "just in case you happen to be in Salt Lake City, tune into 104.7."
Was it a Comcast or DirecTV insert?

It was on Comcast. I'm sure it was a local spot.

Ah. O.K. It must have been during the NBC Nightly News then. I watched it then O'Reilly and didn't remember which channel had the ad for 104.7.

It'll should be there in O'Reilly Tonight at about 920p... And just for Henry.. . you can't do local inserts on Direct TV or Dish.. how could they do that??? With Wired Cable you have the local head-ends where they can insert local stuff... and are allowed up to 2 minutes an hour on most nets...
