The references to 1510 AM at KLLB's web site <http://www.kllbam.com/> have been removed and replaced with the notation: "Broadcast hours to be announced--stay tuned". I'm unable to determine if the station's web stream is still active since I'm presently posting from behind a firewall which doesn't allow internet radio/TV streaming. Still streaming through tune in. I wonder if they will attempt to sell the license / follow iHeart and Cumulus by sitting on the license as "silent" for some time?

Since Wikipedia is out of date, the Utah Grizzlies are now over at ESPN 700 (or sometimes KSOP AM), which was probably a final nail in the coffin. As someone working in another market, these negotiated time share agreements with certain sports teams in town do seem to bring in a large chunk of some sports stations revenue, just like weekend programs on news talkers.

From the November e-Newsletter: (December's was a "we're hiring" e-Blast, basically) New Home for KCPW's Main Transmitter! Signal to be strengthened, consolidated at 88.3 FM Depending on where you live and travel, you tune to 88.3 FM, 105.5 FM, or both to hear KCPW's independent, public radio programs. This month, we'll be consolidating both under the newly-expanded 88.3 FM. That means just one stop on the dial, wherever you are around the Salt Lake Valley.
Background: Faced with a "move it or lose it" situation last Fall, KCPW successfully shifted its translator, 105.3 FM, to 105.5 FM as a temporary fix to preserve our reach. Whole communities had been at risk of losing this quality public radio programming, including the southern portion of the Salt Lake Valley and beyond.
We continued to search for a permanent solution and earlier this year were granted FCC approval to physically move our main signal, 88.3, to a site in the Oquirrh Mountains. From this improved geographic location - beginning later this month - the strengthened 88.3 signal alone will reach what the combined signal (88.3 and 105.5) currently reaches, plus some!
What does this mean for you? If you always listen to KCPW at 88.3 FM, nothing will change (other than an improved signal strength, which you may notice). If you listen on 105.5, beginning later this month you'll be able to migrate over to 88.3 FM for your educational listening and enjoyment.
Dates and more details to follow; stay tuned!

I thought that KSFI was running a promotion to guess the day and hour that they will flip, with the winner getting $500. But I don't see that now on their website. Are they no longer taking entries? Or did they cancel it because of a leak? It is flipper 6 on their website, but when you try to mouse over it, the page does behave strangely. I think they did this last year and it has a sponsor so I think the contest is on. The 17th is the Thursday before Thanksgiving, so that is a likely possibility.

That seems like a logical guess. The "December" survey already started last Thursday and doesn't wrap until November 30 but I would assume that KSFI would start on a Thursday or Friday in the next few weeks to get the maximum lift to the December ratings period. The Frandsens eastern Idaho station hasn't flipped (Don't know if it will) or KLCE, but both have Christmas 24/7 online streams available at their websites.

I feel like Farnsworth has redundancies, because there are some broadcasters that aren't in the hands of the biggest of the big. Then again, some are (glances at KUTV, KTVX, KUCW). Antenna Failure Switches Off Boston TVIn truth the cable penetration these days is so high and direct feeds to cable head ends so prevalent (in big markets especially) that it’s nowhere the disaster that it would have been in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Comcast Boston Apparently "the 5th highest cable penetration % in the country, at 81.6%." Utah's Comcast market is currently standing at quite a different contrast, largely due to both the rural nature of the SLC DMA and (I personally believe) the pricing and options with satellite. "36% cable Penetration" even including Rock Springs, Wyo. and head ends in central and southern Utah.

So, I happen to have family in Idaho Falls and was curious about the "Thriller" dates there. Turns out that was LAST YEAR and the show is not returning. Either the production company or Capital Broadcasting's sales/traffic/production department have a problem. :-?

Wasatch Front, I am jealous that you can listen to this format over the air. I wish them all the best for at least a little tick up from current ratings. Funny that "KJQ" was on the full 103.1 for a little while, although most of its time was through the three frequencies (100.7/ 103.1/ whatever Utah County's was).
I don't know that this is really an appropriate combo with "Now 97.9" but obviously "Sunny" wasn't working out either. Out of curiosity, does Capital Broadcasting still have an office in Ogden for KLO? How do they sell? Most companies now have sellers offering the entire cluster as part of their strategy.
So far it sounds like the Clinton Mattress (something) and Odyssey Dance Theater decided to stay with the new format. I also heard a spot referencing the 'holiday season' for a local HVAC company.

As far as I know, Radio Disney had nothing to do with the change from 12+ to 6+ other than obviously 6-12 year olds would have been forced to write their listening - not exactly trustworthy.
The 6+ change came in every market after PPM went live. (TV is 2+ last I knew)

Wow, Teletext looks cool. Too bad the gov't never stepped in with a standard, dooming the technology in the USA. :-( www.museum.tv/eotv/teletext.htm (screenshots of Teletext 5)

Due to the fees associated with streaming as an online only broadcaster, apparently. From Chet Tapp: It is with a heavy heart I must tell you we will be ceasing KCQN operations as of Sunday night at 7pm. The goal of this project was and always has been to secure a broadcast signal for KCQN and a home for all of you. I should mention that there is interest from someone out there who does own a signal and who is looking into the feasibility of putting KCQN on it. So all hope is not lost! I will of course continue to work on securing a broadcast signal and will keep you up to date on any progress I make by posting it here. On your end you CAN help the cause by filling out a quick KCQN Listener Questionnaire so that I might be able to use the info to help convince a prospective signal owner that a station like KCQN is needed along the Wasatch Front. If you could please fill out the KCQN Listener Questionnaire here: docs.google.com/forms/d/1qLCdV468xqREvT-B7pVl8PX_9AFG07ZANaD-EOPO_1Q/viewformIt could go a long way in helping us find a home for KCQN on the radio dial. So PLEASE share this with all of your fellow New Wavers out there! A big thanks to all the listeners out there who accidentally stumbled across us and to everyone that had ANYTHING to do with KCQN. Hopefully we will be back to help you continue to stay alive in ’85!

"The Mountain" is already dead. From facebook: It's with a heavy heart that I have to let our listeners and supporters know we won't be moving forward with The Mountain on 1079 FM. At a critical juncture in the process, we are unable to come to an agreement with the licensee of KUMT - Community Wireless of Park City. They have decided to move forward with their own programming and we will be exploring options for The Mountain as well.
I can't thank all of you enough for all your support. In just 10 days on the air, we clearly ruffled some feathers in Utah media. I've got some great stories to share about these past few months but there will be a time and place for that. For now, I just wanted to say thanks.

While for some it's sad to lose "Weber FM" over the air, this has worked out OK for KCPW. I hope the new site's tower lease is as affordable or better than the current site on the Wells Fargo tower.
