Both KCPW-FM and their soon-to-be-former 105.5 translator have had their licenses to cover with the new coverage area approved by the FCC, but both still appear to be operating with their old facilities. Naughty naughty. Santa is going to put coal in your stocking this year.
Has anyone heard any announcements about having anyone listening on 105.5 moving to 88.3?

From the November e-Newsletter: (December's was a "we're hiring" e-Blast, basically) New Home for KCPW's Main Transmitter! Signal to be strengthened, consolidated at 88.3 FM Depending on where you live and travel, you tune to 88.3 FM, 105.5 FM, or both to hear KCPW's independent, public radio programs. This month, we'll be consolidating both under the newly-expanded 88.3 FM. That means just one stop on the dial, wherever you are around the Salt Lake Valley.
Background: Faced with a "move it or lose it" situation last Fall, KCPW successfully shifted its translator, 105.3 FM, to 105.5 FM as a temporary fix to preserve our reach. Whole communities had been at risk of losing this quality public radio programming, including the southern portion of the Salt Lake Valley and beyond.
We continued to search for a permanent solution and earlier this year were granted FCC approval to physically move our main signal, 88.3, to a site in the Oquirrh Mountains. From this improved geographic location - beginning later this month - the strengthened 88.3 signal alone will reach what the combined signal (88.3 and 105.5) currently reaches, plus some!
What does this mean for you? If you always listen to KCPW at 88.3 FM, nothing will change (other than an improved signal strength, which you may notice). If you listen on 105.5, beginning later this month you'll be able to migrate over to 88.3 FM for your educational listening and enjoyment.
Dates and more details to follow; stay tuned!

Good to know, thanks.
Since it was apparently delayed, I wonder how that will affect listeners believing it when it happens.
