Flip confirmed by this weekend! Guesses for Gen-X have been made, any others? Do we think that Chunga will land on another station here?

Well I'll be dropping 101.9 from my primary radio pre-set. I won't go back to X96 as long as the too political morning show is on the air. I guess it's time to see if I can find another station.

Stick a fork in The End. Er, um, let me rephrase that..... GenX Music eh? That's a description more than a good positioner, but it's better than some recent new stations. A quick dip in on my way home tonight revealed some awful rap song that I've never heard before. I'm a Gen Xer, and stuff like that should never be in the rotation at all, never mind when the station launches and you want the first impressions to be positive (preferably with something very familiar.) I'm pretty worried about Citadel. As we know the company has been in deep trouble for a couple of years now. They've been trying to keep the company afloat, but it seems like there isn't any more fat to trim and they're starting to go after the muscle. Throwing away a heritage station for an unproven jockless generic format smells like a Hail Mary. I don't blame the local managers. I think they're being leaned on a LOT by the corporate managers who are trying to keep the current balance sheet looking vaguely respectable regardless of what happens in the medium or long term. Right now is all that matters, 1 year from now be damned. Where things go after this is a troubling question. If they flip K-Bull we'll know they've gone completely crackers.

Sorry for the late jump into this forum, I have been out of Utah for several months and got back two weeks ago. Word is, Cort is the only person who still works for the station. As you've all noticed, Chunga and Grant were KIA.
They did a remote today at Stockton to Malone Honda (I live nearby and saw their new image on my way to work). This may turn out to be good though. I feel bad for Grant but Chunga seems to be taken care of, with his Hollywood connections and all. Cort is a nice guy and I wish him the best of luck with the new format. Word on the street is, Citadel made a big mistake flipping, yes, but change may be for the better in this situation. The station was #23 out of how many in this valley.
Had it been me, I would have transitioned into the new format gently instead of here today gone tomorrow. I hate that about radio. Citadel better not change any other stations, otherwise the ratings will tank.
DX? I'd be interested in what you have to say. I will PM you.

Where one station drops off another rises. Reminds me of when Country Legends left... 99.1 became Classic Country. Those of you on FB should see this: tinyurl.com/2aencob

:'(I think you can put up alot of Pretty Please Sites! It's a done deal. Citadel just dropped a whole lot of Salaries/Health Benefit costs with the layoffs. This new format may not work but it's a cheap way and a good way to gain some revenue from a Low Cost IPod Shuffle Format.....
Take note kiddies wanting to get into the radio biz..... Radio DJ's are like the Glaciers of Alaska slowly diminishing. Geez I remember the good ole' days of 1320 KCPX K-PIX FUN TIME RADIO with Skinny Johnny, Wooly Waldron, Chad-O, Joe Lee and the Lynn Lehman Lemon Award....Wow Childhood memories Heck I even remember KRSP FM Signing off at 6pm. Radio Memories I still have them now it's just a female voice saying BLA-BLA by BLA-BLA Sad...Very Sad

I agree that there's probably no way they're backtracking. Even if they did, it would be the same lack of personality.
It would be interesting if Chunga ended up at The Point, but I'm not sure Millcreek could afford him.

He probably has a no compete clause in his contract.... for 6 months or whatever, I doubt he will be on the air before then...

Are no-competes usually in play when the talent decides to take a walk rather than being forced out?

I keep forgetting about the no-compete clause. It is in effect regardless of situation. Not for at least 6 months will we know what Chunga (Brett Smith) does next. IMHO his show was only listenable when Mister was with him. I am happy Cort is still working, but the one I feel bad for is Grant.
