The silence is deafening!! I'm getting the suspicion something or somethings might be starting to budge in this market!

I think it's just that the suits with the pursestrings have sucked all the life out of the industry.

No... I get a kind of a disturbance in the force, so to speak... Something is gonna give way. Today even... Why not? It's been awhile.

WTH... Nobody told me! 107.5 right now is playing K-LOVE? Uh...okay? I just heard an ID. They mention 88.7 too. I guess this does significantly improve KNKL's coverage. I'll get to the bottom of this asap. Here's the RDS snapshot taken moments ago: www.ubstudios.com/dx/slcids/kkatfmrds.jpg

99.1 is now running old time country. Freedom 570 is gone from FM, replaced with a country format similar to 107.5.
When did this happen?

Had to have been overnight SLCUT. I listened to 99.1 last night and it was Freedom 570. I was just thinking, KKAT-FM and 99.1 come from the same mountain...
However...I know that KKAT-FM's Scott system is not running so this can't be anything to do with Citadel. I feel bad that Country Legends is gone, the empty studio is so eerie.
The flip on KKAT occurred at 2 AM this morning. I'm guessing 99.1 did the same.
Checked if 99.1 is the same as KZHT HD-2's feed: Nope. This is different.

What's on 99.5.2? 99.1 has to be fed from somewhere.
KNKL's city grade contour doesn't get much past Layton. Even with the Bountiful booster, 107.5 has a problem in northern Davis and further. Coverage-wise this makes sense.

99.5 HD-2 is indeed the same as 99.1 That would explain that.
And yes CA, the more I got to thinking, it does make sense for better coverage. I will still miss Country Legends.
"You've found Classic Country.. 99.1" Weak!

Thing is, the flip of 99.1 really hurts Clear Channel's credibility. They just launched the simulcast of 570 there a few months ago. This leads listeners to not want to invest in something that they see as temporary.

Now just a darn minute! Are you saying 99.1 is broadcasting classic country? Isn't that slightly (or VERY) illegal??? 99.1 is a TRANSLATOR. It's supposed to be TRANSLATING another station. Yes the rules have changed....they CAN translate an AM or another FM station but as far as I know they can NOT translate another station's HD2 signal.
Hrmmmm

I would contend listeners already see just about every station as temporary with as often as they flip formats. For them, this is nothing new.
I also contend that is one of the problems with radio today. Listeners have been burned so many times that they don't develop a passion for a station like they used to. Program directors and talent suffer from the same thing. Why invest your heart and soul into a product that will be gone in a couple years at corporate whim? So you get what we have now, stations that are mediocre with staff that does enough to get by. If there is even a staff... That's why computers are so great, computers don't care.
