This afternoon while returning from Wyoming I noticed the main transmitter for KDUT 102.3 is off air. The boosters were still on. Isn't this slightly illegal? I am unsure if KDUT has an aux like other Humpy stations.
B98.7's Park City translator K237AL 95.3 FM has the same RDS as the main, nice touch.
Also of note, KNRS' booster on Lewis Peak does have a stereo pilot like Michael said. Audio on 106.5's booster was incredibly low, volume wise. Other Lewis Peak boosters were operating normally.
I also have to give kudos to X96 for their booster. It sounds really good and has good range, but lacks RDS like the main (as do the other boosters).
Other Farnsworth stations should consider putting boosters in the same place, as Coalville can be kind of a radio dead zone.

I just noticed it yesterday, I'm unable to tell if it is still off air as of this writing, but I doubt it is.

Paging MichaelJ. MichaelJ to the white courtesy phone please. I know he's reported that the Humpy primaries historically have been off air for long periods of time. What the exact definition of "extended" as listed in the rules would be, I have no idea. Might depend on the whim of the Commission.

Or like in the movie Speed, it might depend on the whim of a madman. movie references ftw.

Wow...I need to get a new pager! Well guys I just checked and actually BOTH Bustos stations' mains are off. Both 102.3 and 106.1 are off. These stations are historically biggest offenders of the "boosters are on, main is not" situation. Over time I've noticed these stations have both or either stayed off for as long as 6 months at a time. That CAN'T be legal. I guess I could understand transmitter problems and difficulties getting to Humpy Peak in the winter time. But then too there's been times in the dead of winter that some of the others will go off and Simmons or Millcreek will do whatever to get the main back on. Maybe those guys have helicopter abilities and Bustos does not. I would think helicopter or snowmobile would be the only accessibility to Humpy Peak in the winter. In the summer it is drivable. Not that I've been up there but I sure would love to go. I wish I knew someone that I could go up there with......that'd be a neat site to see.

We should organize some trips to Humpy and Farnsworth.. Wonder if that's possible? I would love to see all that radio magic! Anyone interested? Can some of our visitors from those organizations work something out?

You'd assume the site uses some kind of combiner like both Farnsworth *and* this mega-radio antenna (with pictures) in Portland Stonehenge!: www.well.com/user/dmsml/stonehenge/index.html

Yeah great pics!! I gotta say Farnsworth Peak is one of the most amazing facilities I have ever been too. I been to a few and they are nothing like it. Is it a normal thing to glow when you leave those sites? ;D

I once got offered to go up to Farnsworth and the surrounding mountains (Nelson/Vision) but the chance never realized itself. What I wouldn't give to go up to Farnsworth one of these days. There would be a lot of pictures, I guarantee it.

Nice nice! Is the community stick the main for the FMs or TVs. I always get the two confused. Hard to believe all those stations are coming from that tower.
