The Fm stations Nice nice! Is the community stick the main for the FMs or TVs. I always get the two confused. Hard to believe all those stations are coming from that tower.

Keith McCord used to do an occasional feature, called "Places You Just Can't Go". He did one on Farnsworth Peak a few years ago....also did a nice piece the day Earl Richardson retired from up there.
Maybe we could get him to do another "PYJCG", since things have changed so much. E-mail him and suggest it: kmccord@ksl.com
(BTW, It would not hurt to give a bit of publicity to the broadcaster end of things. We sure promote our competition a lot.)

Ken, if a few of us wanted to take a tour of Farnsworth, what are the real possibilities? Few, meaning 3-5 max at a time.

I'm all for joining you guys if that tour ever materialized. I have (as some of you know) a website dedicated to pictures of broadcast towers and Farnsworth would be the gem. I already have Lake Mountain, Farnsworth is the other piece of the puzzle.

Oh man I hear THAT! Farnsworth is a hard egg to crack, though. Some of you may have heard of Scott Fybush...does the Tower Site of the Month calendar and has probably the most comprehensive tower site site of all (www.fybush.com). Well Scott and a couple of buddies were up here a couple of summers ago. They ventured up here to Evanston and I took them up to Medicine Butte--our little Farnsworth up here---and they really enjoyed and took lots of pics. They were in and around Salt Lake City and TRIED to schedule a trip to Farnsworth but it didn't work out. I know they got to see KSL-AM's site so I bet it was John Dehnel that had hoped to take them up Farnsworth and may have been HIS schedule that didn't allow it. I know Dennis Silver has mentioned it a few times to me as well as I guess he goes up there every once in a while. I'm not sure if he has any that he maintains up there. I DO know he goes up Lewis Peak from time to time as he handles the KPCW translators and stuff. So I'm hoping this summer I'll at least get to see that one. For me, Farnsworth would be a pipe dream....like the holy grail of mountain-top transmitter sites. For what it's worth guys, Chris' picture of the community stick on Farnsworth....that stick is VERY similar to the stick on Humpy. Just not as many bays as far as I can tell but the structure (self-supporting) and design with the covered bays and all.....yeah the stick up there looks quite similar. I'll have to post a pic that I got. It's from a distance but you can see the stick and you'll see what I mean. AND.....to bring this back on topic..... right after I reported that both Bustos stations were off, 102.3 returned to the air. Meanwhile 106.1 is still off.

Okay gang....here's the other. I found it...it was here on this computer. This one was taken from the south side.....this is as close as I could get. This is a better shot. You can actually see the building(s) up there and a better view of the tower. Both pics were taken in summer of 2007. The first one I posted was taken from the north side. Later that summer we went back up and went down the road to Whitney Resevoir and took a turn-off and got this one. No access from this side closer than this. The ACTUAL road to humpy is gated and accessible from Chalk Crk Rd south of Evanston. Michael n Wyo Attachments:

Of course I don't mind! Feel free to grab them and use them. They are actually crops ... I cropped the photos a bit to convserve space here on the board. I can get you the whole photos. Then as soon as enough of the snow is gone you can come up to Evanston and we'll run out there and you can take some of your own You may have a better camera than I do anyway. Mine's just a little Fuji Finepix digital camera. I think both of them were as close as I could get using its "digital zoom". Michael n Wyo
