Does anyone know if KTCE Payson did anything to boost their signal or fine tune their transmitter recently? I was on the west side of the Valley this afternoon and it was coming in like I'd never heard before.

I am in southwestern Wyoming and the signals are coming in better than they normally do. Maybe its a small tropo opening. I was able to get a station from Grand Junction today, KMXY 104.3 FM 175 miles distant and a mountain range (or two) in the way. Its a phenomenon called tropospheric ducting.

Yours could be tropo, but mine wouldn't be. The distance is too short. The tropo forecast has said nothing anywhere near here or you for a while, and nothing expected in the next several days. Must be something else.

All I know is that I'm hearing spurs and sputters on 104.3, both in car radios. Every once and awhile, a station will come in for a split second, and then go back out to static. Yesterday it was more stable. I definitely heard 104.3 from Grand Junction. I don't know about KTCE. Maybe they finally went up to the mountain and fixed that yagi that was lying on the ground. That likely wasn't producing a good signal. I went up there awhile ago, and created the website below with what I found. www.ubstudios.com/rtli/westmountainutah.html

I can get 92.1 with a clear signal here on the east side of Murray if I orient my Superadio's antenna broadside to their location down by Payson. I don't remember ever getting a clear signal from them before. I suspect they've done something.

Excuse my ignorance, but did you mention KTCE on this page? I seem to be missing the reference. Regardless, it was cool to see the photo. How does 98.3 work as a translator in Utah County? Didn't it used to relay a station from Price?

Yes I know I failed to mention it. I should have put that it is located at the base of the tower, which on that page I say was used by U92, but according to Radio Locator is now a translator of 101.5.
What I saw up on the mountain looked like a regular TV antenna cut for FM which was being used by KTCE. Thats what I meant by the yagi on the ground. I don't know if it is still there. I believe that website was put up some time around 2006 or 2007 so info is likely out of date.

A few things I noticed on the other page, since you mentioned it. KUPX/16 isn't an independent. That's owned by Ion (formerly Pax) and has almost no independent programming at all. Also, the 99.1 translator from there never had anything to do with KUDD/KUDE. It's been a translator for 99.5 for at least a decade, though it went silent last year.

Fixed and fixed. I am going to go through all of those local pages and see if any info needs updating. I have still yet to build a page dedicated to Farnsworth or Ensign. Combined with the lack of access to the sites, I have little time to work on that part of the site any more.

On your Lake Mt page, you list 104.7 as off-air. I think it is now on-air as Cool. Classic. Rock KYLZ. A new Millcreek FM. This ThreadAt least I know that's the frequency, whether they are using that tower at this point, I'm not sure.

I invite you guys to go through the rest of the site and point out any errors you see. I'll be sure to fix them if needed, the more help the merrier. The official front page to that site is www.ubstudios.com/rtli.htmlYou guys should probably send corrections as a PM so we don't get really really off topic lol.

This is a pretty cool site. Nice job. BTW, does anyone know where you can find pictures of the Humpy site on the web?

Me thinks that's the holy grail of sites to get pictures of. I'll try one of these days. Its kind of hard without a 4x4 any more.

This topic deserves to be discussed, but some people might not realize the thread drifted that much. I'll move it to a new thread. Anything else about KTCE can go here.
