Is there an advantage to being on KSL you think?
My big question is, what else going to be on 2.2 to fill out the schedule? Pierce touches on that but didn't elaborate. I didn't see anything on KUTV's website either.
I guess now that KUTV is no longer owned by CBS the corporate mandate for no additional streams is gone. As I understand it, CBS Corporate said that their O&O stations couldn't provide additional streams because that might compromise the quality of the main signal.

Read in an industry paper that KUTV 2.2 will be known as THIS which will be a free movie channel like FX Movie channel and AMC a commercial style movie channel. THIS is your free movie channel
Starting in April Not in Utah so you will have to fill in when it signs on

I'm sure we can do that.
As of right now, there's no 2.2 stream available.

More explained here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_TVbasically another channel like RTN showing shows before 1986 and co-owned by MGM. What I'd like to see is a good sitcom channel Newhart - Mary Tyler Moore - WKRP - One Day at a time ect... Just good shows from the time when TV was pretty good.

Is there an advantage to being on KSL you think? Well, it's a main channel, carried statewide via all satellite providers, cable TV, and translators so the coverage is certainly a *bit* better. However, eventually -2 -3 -4 channels will get there I hope.

Of note, this product claims to be on Fisher stations. So far it hasn't happened, here in Seattle or elsewhere. RTN is on in this market on Cox-owned KIRO-TV (subchannel 2).

The article also states that the www.dot2network.comwill also debuting on a sub-channel in the Salt Lake Area? The shows look newer and they are from the Sony Studios KSTU?

Hmm. Sony has some tie-ins with CBS, so maybe there's a 2.3 coming. I don't think I'd do it on KTVX/4 because of bandwidth considerations, ditto with KSL/5. I don't think the PBS stations would be allowed to. KSTU/13 is a good idea, just get rid of that duplicate SD & HD feeds. KJZZ/14 is probably still selling their extra bandwidth to whomever the high bidder is this week. KUPX/16 is already full up and I doubt would do anything on a market by market basis. KUCW/30 is a good possibility also, since they only have one feed.
It's funny how broadcast is becoming the new cable. This is exactly the kind of thing that cable became good at. Nick at Nite first debuted, what, 25 years ago? This type of programming was exactly what they were airing. Then as they migrated newer for younger demos, they invented TV Land. See also sister networks Cartoon Network and Boomerang. Now the in thing is doing it on broadcast. I admit that there have been small networks that run this old programming for the last 10-15 years, but it's been all small potatoes until now. I'll admit, I didn't see this coming at all.
Pete, which article are you referring to?

If it does go to Fox, I'm sure they would advertise the heck out of it, and soon. Fox has a tendency to do that, but I imagine all the stations in the valley would likely do the same. Also, if Fox does take, it, I urge them to move the HD feed to 13.1 and put whatever it is on 13.2. I don't see the point in two feeds of Fox.

Pete, which article are you referring to? March 09 DTV Bytes a magazine that was laying around the studio...First time I've ever seen it Ok so DX was saying that KSTU is on 13.1 and 13.2 ? Why? and until June 12th analog 13? Are both of the signals HD? Here's my thinking the way DSpete Thinks Economy down people cutting costs why not as a network push the side bands as an alternative to high price cable? Ok so your not going to get 200 channels but one like the dot2network could work as it seems to be showing newer movies. Our local NBC side does the sports US but hey let's go a little after ESPN with that and do a nightly sports update like sportscenter....Qubo is great for smaller children ...And so on it could work but it all boils down to $$ Just my thoughts
