Some people hate letterboxing. One person I know sets the DTV box to expand the center of the 16:9 image to fill the whole screen sacrificing the sides because the leaking closed captioning data at the top is too annoying. I find cutting off half of people's faces a lot more annoying but what the hey....

During the channel 2 10 o'clock news tonight they ran a brief spot saying KUTV 2.2 with THIStv is coming soon. The RSL Website lists the April 11 game will be broadcast at 4 pm MDT on KUTV2.2 I did a scan for 2.2 and I don't think they're on air yet.

Comcast compresses the video way too much, but that's the trade off to get more channels.
I confirmed. 2.2 isn't on air yet.

It's not even the compression. It's the fact they aren't fixing the 4x3 ratio anymore so text is constantly cut off channels like KING-5, KCTS-9 and others. It seems to mainly be an over the air to cable thing, but I can't say for sure.

I'm not sure there's a real answer there though. The source material is in 16x9, so the only other answer I can think of would be to letterbox the whole channel. Whether that's an improvement or not I'm not sure. What do you think?
