The moves were discussed here a while back: talkingutahradio.proboards.com/thread/1860/kqti-coming-salt-lakeLooks like they have/had a grant to operate from the north end of Sky Park Airport in Bountiful. Not sure if it's on (RF channel 31) right now. They have a CP to move to Farnsworth (I guess they are talking about Little FP), and beaming right in to SLC. We used to use the microwave signal from John's house in North Ogden to test the KSL Mount Ogden microwave receiver.

Boy the engineering is complicated and there was just another application put in yesterday (Jul 22). Let me see if I can sort it out with this handy map I just made. The red area is the currently licensed site at Skypark. Not much to see there. The blue area is the construction permit filed and approved last year. That is from the site about a half mile south of Farnsworth Peak. Is that Little Farnsworth, Ken? The yellow area is a Special Temporary Authority site out near the intersection of Riverdale Road and 1900 W in Roy. That was approved in January. Also not much to see. Maybe just there to make sure they could get on the air and keep the license from being cancelled? The green area is a very rough approximation of the new application that was just filed. (The FCC hasn't put the data files in yet. Sorry.) That comes from Kessler Peak (though the paperwork refers to Black Rock Mountain) about 1 1/2 miles north of Farnsworth. I'm not sure why they would apply for a new site after the previous one was approved and especially why it's lobbing power only southeast. Now to get to the programming question. Weigel's MeTV and H&I are already on KTVX 4.2 and 4.4 respectively and duplicating them in the Salt Lake area doesn't make much sense, but using KQTI to get them to the Logan area might. Why wouldn't KUTA just become a translator of KCSG directly though? KTVX is a stronger station both in signal strength and in market position so moving MeTV and H&I wholesale to KQTI would be a downgrade, not to mention the must-carry considerations. On the other hand I could definitely see adding some of Weigel's other properties like Start TV and Decades (with CBS) and maybe even MeTV FM. Augmenting what's already available with what's not available makes the most sense to me. I've been wondering for a long time why substantial networks are not available here while we have a bunch of no-name networks that are.
