I think that the number of listeners to CRI (and similar) programming, as a percentage of the number of AM radios, is about what the number of listeners to shortwave broadcasts would be, against the number of SW receivers. So, their "share", so to speak......
You can stumble on to some interesting stuff here and there. I listened to a whole show on 70's and 80's Pop music yesterday.

So how on earth can that possibly be profitable? You're assuming that they're looking to be profitable. Not all radio is about profit. In this case, I'll bet it isn't.

In this case, I think the only person making a profit is the one who has LMA'ed KDYL to CRI. Reading the posts on this board leads me to believe that the station's core audience has been lost without the benefit of attracting a new listening audience.

The Chinese government does not need to make a profit from broadcasting in SLC. They only want to influence you to think that the Chinese are good people. In fact, they are good people. I've been there. The people are wonderful people. But their government is even more corrupt than ours. To keep the Commie bosses in power they will do anything, even institute broadcasts all over the US to try to influence you that there is no need to bad talk them. They are corrupt to the core; make no mistake.

Hey Guys, I've been going non-stop for almost a month getting this puppy working. We have the music about down pat and Mark and Gayle are on from noon to 3. I do afternoon drive and track the other hours. A vintage Vinyl show on Saturdays with Greg and Mike. Great response and in the process of getting the word out. Depending on word of mouth and advertisers sending emails, texts, FB and twitter to their many clients. It's gonna be even better than I thought and though it's lots of work, that's never stopped those of us who are passionate about this medium. I see some of you have noticed that the format we actually had a little earlier (SIMMONS VERSION OF KDYL) had evaporated. It's what we are doing and the music is a great mix of decades of monster hits. If it is something you may like, would appreciate your spreading the word. you can access us easily at retromediaallstars.com Little video at the beginning then click the earphones and there we are. You can listen on any mobile device, ipod, ipad, laptop and desktop and in newer cars, you can plug your ipod in, or with blue tooth or the auxiliary button you can hear us in your car/truck/tank/boat..hmmm Life is good and not having to deal with out of control PDs and Mgrs and Owners is heaven

Sounds rather good, Danny. I'll have to check it out after 12PM, too. Any time frame on 19.5?

Sounds good so far, Danny, but I can't find any info on the website on how to stream via mobile. I use several apps (TuneIn, OOTunes, for example) to stream on my iPhone. Can you post instructions or a URL that I can plug into one of these apps?

The live streaming is a work in progress. We need the software to make it work right. We also have over the air ch 19 KPDR which will be carrying live shows as well. That's off the drawing board and is a done deal, but first things first, and that's fine tuning the music and the internet program for rotating music and watching tempo etc. And to access the stream, just go to retromediaallstars.com If you are on a smart phone or ipod there is a little video which you can skip, but there is a link that should say something like listen live. I will have my engineer check all phone models quickly. Best to go to your computer or ipad or ipod and type the retromediaallstars.com in and you can just click on the earphones over the side of my head and that should do it for you. The phone thing on my phone works slick and I have blue tooth and my car has that auxiliary button and I click it and hear the station clear as a bell. Have a Bose portable little speaker system that holds an iPod and it's a killer sound and goes anywhere. When I get any more info I will pass it to you. Thanks for trying it and here's hoping a gazillion folks discover how cool internet listening is and you don't have to pay for Sirius or any other service to get this format. Danny

just talked to the engineer and he is going to disable the video which pops up when you go to the website. there will be a note to let folks go and watch it if they want a little more on what we are about. So when you go to the site from any mobile device etc. You should have the earphones or something cool to say listen live here. Give me some feedback when you can. Should have that video gone shortly. Danny

My phone, a Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android) won't let me get close the introductory video. Hopefully, when that video goes away, I'll be able to get somewhere.
My tablet is a Toshiba Thrive (also an Android), and is a different story. When I first tried it, I saw a message that said that some Android devices wouldn't stream audio. Tried it again ~5:35, after Danny posts. Using Firefox, it came up and played, but would often cut out. Speedtests come back at 12M+, so bandwidth wasn't an issue. Tried again a little bit later (utilizing both Firefox and the stock browser), and it streams and plays just fine.
Good work, all involved. Still, no 19.5, though.

Whew...okay the video has been disabled and now you can go to the site and click once or perhaps twice but it takes you to the stream and I checked my phone and it's slick. The video streaming and the TV are still a short ways off so for now you will only be able to thrill to the music with very few commercials to help pay the bills. For any folks who find that the current radio stations/owners/chains/etc don't care too much about you or don't give you a chance to learn on the job, the internet is gonna be the wave of the future for young jocks and those who want to be a part of the business without much of the crap. Have a good night everyone and hope you give us a chance and spread the word. Danny
