Good luck to you Danny. Sounds like you're taking a not so good situation and turning it into an opportunity, and I really hope you succeed. The industry needs more professional broadcasters like you making things happen.
Timmy, that's correct. A foreign entity can't own a broadcast facility. That's why Rupert Murdoch became a US citizen.
I'm not too impressed by the G&E website. I couldn't see anything with scripting disabled and you should never visit any site with scripting on unless you really need it and you really know the site well. (The KDYL site hack we talked about earlier shows why.) They need to get a good website designer.

"Portland is the capital of Oregon."
Way to go, G&E!
Take a good, long look at AM 1060. A day is coming (10+ years out) when the FM dial will be turning into this, too.

Thanks for the good wishes. We are beta testing the stream and it sounds off the chart clear and wonderful even on my Iphone. It's better on my ipad and the laptop and desktop will be wonderful as I have some bose speakers attached. The on line video is mind-blowing and the TV ch 19 is an added bonus. I'm lining up talent and will have a better handle on that by the end of the week. Some great folks out there out of work and there is something magical to be in front of the Michrophone and having a great time and not worry about some maniacal PD or Manager becoming apoplectic daily. Gonna be fun and gonna fill a musical hole that nobody is filling but our new project. It's truly amazing what the older demos can mean and they are loyal, and very responsive to advertising which makes paying bills a bunch easier. If you fit the bill feel free to check in with me as I could perhaps work with anyone who is good and devoted and loves to work. Keep a positive attitude out there. When you are told you can't do something, take a deep breath and prove 'em wrong. Danny

Hey Danny, do you need any behind the camera TV people to work on the project?

If the near future we will be doing some TV production and we have a mobile crew and may just need some on call folks for cameras lighting etc. Right now my main focus is getting the music loaded and the radio equipment up and running and getting some clients on the air. But I will continually update and the websites will be up and running shortly too. Gonna be such a fun project and everyone who sees this vision knows it's headed for success. Stay tuned

I applaud Danny on his project and look forward to it, but I must say I'm disturbed and a bit pissed at the oldies switch to Chinese propaganda. Does Ralph think people will listen? Does he realize what bullcrap he's airing?

How do I contact this Ralph to air my grievance? I'm certainly not going to the website... Are you not going there because of the malware reports or something else? FYI, the old website is gone. The main page is a list of what might be trade outs that they're looking to unload. It gives a phone number and address for that, which might also be of use. "(801) 262-5624 / 3606 South 500 West South Salt Lake 84115"

Are you not going there because of the malware reports or something else? The malware reports. Not going to risk it. Thanks cawasinnj and egnlsn for the contact info. Will probably give this guy a piece of my mind today. It seems my concern/annoyance at this switch isn't shared to a great extent here. Weird.

Oh, it's shared. Ralph has been a figure in Utah radio for a long time. He does whatever he has to to keep his radio stations alive and in his hands. Unfortunately, relatively few people tune in to A.M. for music anymore.

Unfortunately, relatively few people tune in to A.M. for music anymore. Call me crazy, but I bet even fewer tune into AM for Chinese propaganda.

China Radio International has some interesting features programming, as well as news from an Asian viewpoint. They broadcast quite a few channels of radio, and several TV channels, all over the world...much like the old BBC World Service, Radio Canada International, Radio Netherlands Worldwide, and Deutsche Welle. It's all done, in China's case, to promote tourism and trade. Can't really fault them for that.
