Looks like KNRS will be using a new logo when they move to 105.9 on Oct. 8: This logo makes no mention of their AM dial position, which makes me wonder if they're going to split the programming or sell 570 AM?

Interesting. Nice find.
My thoughts: iHeart already bought KWDZ 910 which is still off the air and they need to figure out what to do with. Further, what else can they really do with 570? They tried second tier talk programming when they first moved KNRS to FM and gave up on that. (Remember Freedom 570?) That logo pretty much says that the FM is staying KNRS and would they put a music format on the AM? I doubt that. We already have too many sports stations in the market. Plus (at least on paper) the KNRS(AM) signal gets out farther than the FM does. 5kw at the bottom of the dial is pretty potent. Those fringe listeners might not mean a lot, but it's better than nothing. I would put my money on it staying put, even if it's deemphasized from the logo. As Dennis Miller might say, of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

It would be nice to see them resurrect the old KLUB 57 format on 570, but the chances of that are about as good as a snowball's chance of surviving Hades. It makes more sense to continue the AM simulcast, especially since the FM side is difficult to receive when mobile even with the stereo pilot turned off. The stock radio in my 2003 Chevy S-10 will receive just about any AM & FM signal within a 150 mile radius of Ogden, but 105.7 is a real crap shoot. Basically all I have to do is change my driving direction and KNRS-FM starts to get noisy. Since Radio Online doesn't provide a breakdown of how many KNRS listeners are tuned to the AM simulcast, it's hard to tell what the station's ratings are. However, I'd bet that the majority of listeners outside the metro area listen on AM.

It's odd that you have such a problem with 105.7 when everything else is OK. KAAZ (for example) I think broadcasts with the same power from the same antenna. Maybe there's something specific that's interfering with that particular frequency. It will be interesting to see if anything changes with the move up one channel in about three and a half weeks. FWIW, I've never noticed any difference on that frequency but that doesn't say a lot.
Which format was KLUB 57?

KLUB 57 had a beautiful music format from about the late 1960's until the early 1980's, when the beautiful music format gave way to the Music of Your Life format. The reason I remember the station so well is because it was always on the rental car radio when my dad, mom and I would come to Ogden to visit relatives and then drive up to Boise to see my grandpa. In fact, when we came to Ogden around 1981 and drove up to Boise to drive back to Minnesota in my grandpa's 1961 Oldsmobile 98, I distinctly remember hearing KLUB 57 all the way from about 100 miles north of the Idaho border and as we drove across Utah. Gramps had decided to give up driving and wanted me to have his '61 Olds so I'd have a car to drive once I got my license. I'm sure KLUB's 570 frequency helped the signal to "get out", as I usually have no trouble hearing KYAH (540 AM, Delta) in Ogden.

Does anyone know when KBMG is supposed to move? I haven't seen anything on it since they filed a while ago.

So the KNRS-FM move is almost here. Thurs Oct 8 at 5PM is magic time. That's during Rod Arquette's local show, so hopefully this will be a little more exciting than the Rock 106.7 move.
In the meantime iHeart kinda already screwed up. On at least one page they're still pointing people to their old Twitter and Facebook accounts which don't exist. I'm not sure how renaming these types of accounts works, but that might be what they did with the old ones. Then they didn't bother to grab the old names. Oops.

This is to be expected from a company that's been "broadcasting" a dead carrier on 910 AM for almost a week. Maybe someone at iHeart knows why they're doing this, but I sure don't!

At least iHeart has a license.
So the switch was made, and with a huge amount of fanfare. For those that heard it, this is EXACTLY what I was talking about and what they should have done for the KAAZ move. There was at least one really embarrassing technical glitch, but that's live radio for you. Overall, I give it good marks.
Now we wait to see who is going to move to 105.5 first.

"At least iHeart has a license."
True, but one of the terms of iHeart's license for 910 AM is to broadcast a legal ID at the top of each hour, which they haven't done since resuming operations last week. One would think that the $1 million FCC fine levied on iHeart for broadcasting false EAS tones in May of this year would have served as a wake-up call for the company. Must be nice to have money to burn!
