I've been hearing some rumors (from Wikipedia of all places) that the Zone simulcast on 104.7 has moved to 97.5, and 104.7 has gone regional Mexican. Any of this true?
Wonder what happened at the ol' Blaze?

Yup, Blaze is gone. 1047 is mexican and 975 is zone.

Crazy! As if SLC didn't have enough Regional Mexican stations... KTUB KXOL KMRI KZNS-FM (Will probably change calls) KDUT KBJA KOGA KSVN If it were me, I would have chosen Jazz for 97.5 and sports would remain on 104.7. I have to update my website now On another point... does anyone else other than me think these two frequencies are cursed?

On another point... does anyone else other than me think these two frequencies are cursed? NO!! I don't think the frequencies are cursed but I'm starting to wonder about the English language. Last check SLC TV has way to many Spanish language channels also...

What was confusing me is why they would move the Zone simulcast from 104.7 to 97.5 instead of just replacing Blaze with something else. There's a decent chance of losing listeners who tune to 104.7 expecting sports and not knowing that it went down the dial. It's true that they might gain a few listeners who tuned to 97.5 expecting The Blaze and being exposed to Zone instead, but they could have stunted for a few days and run the same signal on both 97.5 and 104.7 and gotten the same benefit.
I might have an answer though. Both 1280 and 97.5 are in divestiture trust 1, meaning both are going to be sold. 104.7 is a facility that Simmons expects to keep. Also, this is not a new station. It's a new simulcast of the "La Favorita" that's been running on KXOL 1660 and I think is still on KOVO 960. Simmons sold KXOL but still owns KOVO. Seems logical when looked at that way.

Thank you, Simmons/Millcreek for bringing back the Blaze . . . and then dumping it! 97.5 was one of the few FM stations I could stand to listen to, and now it's been replaced by yet another sports station. Is there some kind of conspiracy in Salt Lake radio to make at least 50% of the stations on both AM & FM have either an all sports or Spanish language format? Ya know, with the dismal state of radio in the Salt Lake/Ogden/Provo market, investing in an I POD to listen to music at the gym is making more and more sense each day. Memo to Simmons: how about dumping the tired Jack FM format on 103.1 and replacing it with the Blaze? Much of what's played on 103.1 overlaps with the 80's stuff on Movin' 100.7 anyway.

As I understand it, the active rock "Blaze" came back after the Simmons take over, but still under the old management at the "bank building" on 3300 South. But changing physical locations does impact a station's psychology. It's clear being in Trolley Corners did impact KHTB in the end.

Just to keep things clear, KHTB is somebody completely different. KHTB is Z-Rock on 94.9 that Citadel (soon to be Cumulus) took from Millcreek when Millcreek couldn't pay their loan. 97.5 is currently KZZQ though I expect that to change.
Ironic that Z-Rock has the calls KHTB that were chosen for The Blaze and Blaze had calls with two Z's in it.

D'oh! You're right. I got those calls swapped.
Either way, radio is dead. Been REALLY enjoying Pandora on my new 3G phone. The gig is up folks. Brokered program city 2020, here we come.

You know...I try to keep up with "what stations are what" in this market, and it's getting impossible. If we can have about 13-dozen All-SportsTalk stations in the market, why can't we have ONE station that just tells us what format is one what station? It's worse than trying to track sports stats.

At least with sports stats there's usually a canonical reference or two. It used to be common for newspapers to have listings, channel guides, highlights and all that. Not anymore. The closest thing we had was Lynn Arave's column in the Deseret News and as far as I know it wasn't replaced when he was shown the door. Friend of the board Rob Sanders was maintaining a list over at utradioguide.com, but that hasn't been updated for a long time. There's Wikipedia, but that's inherently unreliable. I've thought about doing one myself, but I think the effort would be largely wasted. The best hope I think is RDS, but that's never really caught on.
