Anyone else notice that on both the FCC database and on radio-locator.com they are showing the KNRS call letters back on 570 AM along with 105.7? Simulcast coming?

Would be a smart move in my opinion. Looks like KACP or what not wasn't doing as well in the ratings. Its also going to put Coast to Coast back on AM in Salt Lake so those who live outside 105.7 can hear it again. Of course, this is all speculation. EDIT: I listened online and they still IDed as KACP. Maybe they will change it after New Years?

The 5 people who are listening to 570 can keep an ear out. (Ouch!)
Ok, but seriously. The effective date of the change was Thursday the 23rd. As far as I can tell, if they're still using the KACP calls it's not legal. Clear Channel never did change the callsign for 105.7 from KNRS-FM after the two signals stopped simulcasting so maybe this was just trying to unify the talk station brands? It's a bit odd that's for sure. What is for sure is that Freedom 570 barely has a pulse. (I actually was about to make a post about the release of the December ratings, but I'll address 570 here.) For a station with that kind of coverage the tiny ratings they're generating can't be acceptable, but I'm not so sure returning KNRS there is a good idea unless it's leaving 105.7 also. That's a possibility that would open up the FM for a new music format. The classic country on 99.1 (oh and 99.5 HD2) is showing a little life considering how limited it is. CC also has a smooth jazz station languishing on 94.1 HD2 that nobody can hear. Throwing one of those on either signal I think is a better idea than a simulcast but that's just me.

I wonder if they are ever going to get their 50kw CP completed. It seems a mute point with the ratings as they stand now, but maybe simulcasting with the higher power would have some effect? Take KSL for example. I wonder how many out of market PPMs pick up KSL when people are tuning around the AM dial (do they still do that?) I would like to see Jazz on FM too. The Breeze was actually tolerable when it was jazz. I still wonder if 105.7 is a cursed frequency.

They might, but I don't think anyone cares. Let's say that KSL(AM) manages to pull a 0.1 in the LA ratings. How do you sell that to a car dealer in Salt Lake? Not easily.
And what was on 97.9 was NOT jazz, I don't care what anyone says.

It's official. 570 is simulcasting 105.7 again. Just a few moments ago the freedom570utah.com pages started redirecting to knrs.com. I was reading the pages and suddenly they started redirecting. I was also monitoring 570AM and the Wall Street Journal Report was on before 6AM. The legal ID at 6AM IDed both signals and now Glenn Beck's show is on, though THAT'S a rerun from Friday for some dumb reason.

Good move KNRS. Bring back a well known "brand" and increase your coverage area 10 fold. But will people notice?

10 fold? You think so? Even assuming you're talking about 570's pending construction permit, I don't think it's even close to that. Remember that one of the things that they were trumpeting (or should that be Trumpering?) when they moved was that they had a hard time down near Provo on 570. The new power might fix that, but I doubt a huge amount of further coverage.

Are they still simulcasting? I Heart Radio has 570 streaming Classic Country along with the Pocket Tunes app.

105.7 and 570 are still simulcasting. Maybe they just wanted to expand the reach of the classic country station without having to negotiate with the carriers.

Are they still simulcasting? I Heart Radio has 570 streaming Classic Country along with the Pocket Tunes app. I Heart Radio is a crappy app. Buggy, slow, rarely updated. If CC's intention with this app was to keep radio on life support, it's failing miserably.
