A new AM on 1090 has been granted, licensed to Providence in Cache County.

Hasn't this been a CP that has been out there for several years now? Something like a 32kW signal with a four-tower array situated right on the Cache County landfill (right inside KLGN's near field!). Oh wait, I see: it's moved east and is now 5 kw with three 200-foot towers on the edge of a ritzy neighborhood east of Providence right on the foothills (approximately 1200 East on the Cache County grid)! I wonder if RAMS II - whoever they are - is intending to build or playing the speculation game?

As long as it drops power enough at night so I can still DX 1090, I don't have a problem with it.

Sorry Friend. Yes, you're right. There was an engineering amendment that was approved and the original CP has been around for a while. I spent all my investigation energy last night on seeing what was going on with KTKK and missed that detail. Thank you.
For DX, I think you'll be ok. Looking at the most recent application listed on the FCC site, it's 250 watts night power aimed mostly northwest at Logan with a smaller lobe southeast. There's an almost complete null at 190° to accommodate XEPRS and Salt Lake is in between them. I think you're good.

I'm wondering if they can really put up an array there.....First, it's prime residential development area and B) folks don't like you in their dental fillings and toasters - case in point KLO's old site! ;D Lastly, it's really not a good location from a AM engineering standpoint. I wonder if these folks are looking to sell the CP to the first uniformed individual who thinks he's stumbled on a gold mine in a market that's even more saturated than the SL metro!

Doesn't Rams have numerous CPs for new stations in the Salt Lake metro area. I recall seeing some for 770 khz and 780. Ugh. As if SLC wasn't saturated already. How much you want to bet this never amounts to anything and sits un-built for a long time.

No decision has been made on the 770/780 apps yet. RAMS III is the one who is in that game and they're going for 780. 780 would make KKOB happier, that's for sure.

Yeah but KKOH wouldn't be happy. I see no reason to add another AM to SLC. Of course, that is me being a selfish DXer!

Yeah but KKOH wouldn't be happy. I'm not so sure. KKOH has a very sharp null to the east toward WBBM Chicago. Cache Valley happens to be right along the way.

True. I still hear them quite often here. WBBM in my opinion is harder to catch. I have to look at 1090 this way, if it comes on air and I hear it from here, I can add one more catch .
