"FM100" is now ending songs with title and artist.
WHY? Ugh!!!
I suppose sooner than later we'll see "Love Songs After Dark" canned... and any other 'trace' of personality from adult contemporary radio. Some have argued that on-air talent are unnecessary (and sometimes lazy) for the format, this just makes that point TRUE. ICK.
Am I the only person to miss personality in radio?

No talent is better than bad talent. Good talent is better than both for radio.

I loved the idea when Clear Channel started doing it. (I think it's been done before too) It was simple, clean and really helped the listeners know what song is on. Plus it added to stations that were already just music jukeboxes. But for a Country station and an AC to go that route too is just irritating. I'm waiting for CC to get frustrated with all the copy-catting and go back to live DJ's, just to irritate the competition.

I'm waiting for CC to get frustrated with all the copy-catting and go back to live DJ's, just to irritate the competition. With the pressures media companies, especially those publicly held, continue to face from shareholders to be double digit growing "profit centers" (Bonneville being a fortunate exception), you won't see that any time soon. *sigh* Just look around Citadel - SLC's Web sites for an example. Do more than about 7 people work there any more? I remember when they had separate live talent across most of those stations... even weekends.

I just send the following email to a few people at FM 100
Please tell me that what I heard today was a bad failed experiment ! The computer girl stating what song and artist just played after every single song !!!!. I listen all day at work, I changed to XM satellite in my car and home because of the commercials on stations such as KSL. Please tell me this annoying canned announcing of songs will be gone or are you going to be called JACK FM 100 !

Automatic backselling of the songs seems the flavor of the moment. On 100% jukeboxes it makes sense. On personality radio it doesn't. I think the broadcasters will realize that and fix it.
I wonder if there isn't some panic at Triad Center over the loss of rating dominance and they're trying anything and everything to find a magic bullet.

KSFI lost it's dominance when it decided to shift demos. They went from trying to sell (and likewise win) the 45+ crowd with England Dan and Elton John songs, and moved to the 30's female demo playing Michelle Branch.
Overall it's something they had to do ... and it's been a fairly smooth transition, but they lost their dominance as the 45+ crowd (who are now 50+) moved to KSL. I've even see a few move to KBYU and listen to Classical.
They'll never dominate the 30's crowd. Too much competition from the Bee, My 99.5, and in-dash CD players.

Which way is KOSY wobbling these days? They seem to go back and forth between the younger leaning Hot ACish playlist and the older more Lite ACish one.
