Other than getting a signal I don't know much else at this point. It's running the 'you're not authorized" loop from Global. They may just be trying to keep the license from expiring or there may be real programming soon. (If it's the former, this won't do it.) Stay tuned.

Hmm. It's gone again. That seems a positive sign that it's not just placeholding.

Maybe it was a test to see if the transmitter still works.

The FCC database shows that control of KOGN's and KNFL's licenses were recently transferred to a new receiver. This transfer might have something to do with why KOGN was recently back on the air. It could be that the new receiver had a prospective buyer and was just testing the transmitter to make sure it still works, as dxstuboy mentioned.

After I figured out what CA meant by the Global "you're not authorized" message, perhaps the station was checking that newly received equipment (outlined here) was working. Or then again, the "not authorized" could be from the OLD equipment. www.dial-global.com/DGTotal/technical.php?format=6

Sorry SF. We'd discussed that message almost a year ago when it first surfaced, so it would be the old equipment. As I recall it was David who reported that the same message was the last thing heard before KOGN went offline back last January. The Kool Gold format looks pretty close to what KOGN/KNFL was running at the time, so that adds up.
