Hi everyone. I was DXing the other night (7-19-08) and heard a station on 1490 that was playing Coast to Coast AM (in particular, Art Bell: Somewhere in Time). Around 9:30 PM I heard something that sounded like KCEA or KCEO or something to that effect. I could barely hear it but I did manage to record it. Here is the ID followed by C2C coming back in from the break: www.ubstudios.com/dx/slcids/unknown1490.mp3I adjusted the noise level on it so I could hear it better, but it doesn't seem to help. What I know is that it was on 1490, it was C2C, it was 9:23 PM and the station starts with K something something a or o or some other letter I can't hear. Can you help? Thanks in advance. By the way, its not KUGR. I worked for that station and this isn't their jingle.

Good grief Charlie Brown. I had to listen to that 4 times before I could even figure out where the ID was. Forget about trying to ID it. Given the constraints of what you mentioned and that 1490 is a graveyarder, I'll put my money on KOWL Lake Tahoe. The only other K possibilities are in Iowa and Arkansas. Maybe DSPete could confirm?

Thanks to the little organ that goes DA-Dum in there I can tell you it's our sister station the little 1000 watter K-OWL 1490 and yes it was running one of the best of Art Bell's show on the 19th. On Weekends Coast to Coast runs here locally 8pm to 12am so 9pm to 1am SLC time

Thats unbelievably good for 1kw. There were times when it was coming in better (obviously not the times that counted) but I can't believe it. DSpete, so thats what KOWL's jingle sounds like. I could have swarn the lady is saying KCEA or KGEA or something like that. Hearing it again though, I do hear the L at the end. I also hear the organ you are talking about. That makes three new stations yesterday, thanks a heck of a lot for helping. It should end up on my log as soon as I get to a computer to update it. www.ubstudios.com/slcdx.html
