So who will B'ville buy? Looks like they'll have some room to grow. Thoughts?

I think it much more likely that "the church" will attempt to sell Bonneville. They, of course, will never sell KSL. I suspect that's why they divided it off. And digital media has a future. The old media is slowly, slowly dying. They've always been pretty good businessmen.

I have to agree with Timmy. Bonneville is in the market to buy. There are persistent rumors that they want to buy the ex ABC O&O's that Citadel has. The rumors right now are particularly strong regarding the the Citadel Washington DC cluster, and Bonneville already has a noticeable presence there. My educated guess would be that Bonneville is preparing to buy and is trying to insulate KSL AM/FM/TV from the other parts of the business in case something goes south and they are forced to divest themselves. Since they care so much about the KSL's this would make sense.

CA, you don't see any local purchases? I don't think ABC O&Od any SLC stations. Radio Disney isn't included as that's still with them. It would be whacky if they bought KSOP, Inc. I can't see that happening. But it's one FM and one AM. Any other A/F combos that would match up? Capital Radio? I have no basis for any of this conjecture, just slopping things out there.

If they bought the breeze and KLO, they would have stations competing with each other, much the way KBER and KHTB do.
Capitol probably could stand a hand, the way they are fairing.

I wouldn't say that. I just haven't heard anything about Bonneville beefing up locally. I would be surprised if KSOP was sold now unless there are financial issues that aren't common knowledge. If they were going to be sold it should have been during the runaway price inflation after deregulation up until a few years ago. The prices are so depressed right now that it doesn't seem logical. Of course station owners have done other dumb things recently too. If Citadel were selling locally, my money would be on KHTB. I don't know if they particularly wanted the station, but circumstances at 3 Point pushed them into it. According to their website they have some personalities now. I didn't even know that. How many people even know the station is there? Anyway, given that Citadel is in trouble they might look at selling that station to pick up some cash. KJQS is still a possibility as well, but given the limited signal and being a perennial no show in the ratings....

949 is not as small a station it was just a year ago. Many people I have come across know about and like the station. The reason? More music, less talk, and a lot of people like Marcus and Darby. Talking with Marcus the other day, he says he likes it better at Citadel as opposed to The Putz. I also make sure every remote I do for the station makes it look that much bigger, and we usually get a lot of people and some regulars. I don't think Citadel will sell KHTB any time soon. It is starting to make some headway, and I like it to boot. I haven't heard anything about KJQS other than it picking up other programming. KKAT-AM is a different story.
