I see the SD copy of CW30 on Ch 4.3 is gone. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. If they really want a full screen SD version, just put it on KUCW's signal where it makes sense, but I say just let it go.
If they really want to make use of their extra bandwidth, why not put something good on there? Retro TV (ex-RTN) would make an excellent choice. I could probably just leave the station on all day and be totally fine with it.

I think they planned to leave the KUCW-SD copy up for a while, to be sure their new (KUCW-DT) transmitter tube wasn't gonna fail. Putting the 4.3 signal up meant having many people do a re-scan to even find it (I don't know why some sets need a re-scan, just to update the PMT on an existing channel). They probably got busy, the reason it stayed up so long. In such a situation, I'd be tempted to just leave it in the PMT, but not put anything on it...reducing the bandwidth to a minimum. Maybe indicate that it's a "standby channel" in the EPG. Of course, we need to remind everybody to re-scan, and to re-scan often, for new channels. That's a fact of life in the Digital world. Now, if we could just get KJZZ/KUTV to put NASA-HD on their spare bandwidth......................... .

Ken, I would LOVE to see NASA-HD on my television. I love NASA TV. Get to see the UFOs they try to cover up, but that's a whole other topic. KJZZ could handle it, as could KUCW, or as you said KUTV. The chances of this actually happen are pretty low, but we can dream can't we.

Hmm, I can see the CW on 4-3 now. Glitch maybe.

I'm not getting 4.3 right now. You aren't getting a remap that points to 30.1 there are you?
Oh, and speaking of having to remap, remember that the KUCW simulcast started on 4.2 and only later shifted to 4.3
I was thinking about RetroTV some more and KUTV would actually be a good fit for that too. RTV would be a good companion to This which is already on there. Also, RTV is already on several other stations that are co-owned with KUTV (KUSG St George, KEYE Austin TX, WTVX Ft Pierce/West Palm Beach FL).

It seems like SLC is slow to get updates to DTV. I still haven't seen a new station since the transition.
