Read while you still can!
KSL 1160's IBOC is off due to T-storms.
I hear KFAQ like it used to sound before the hash took over. Nice to hear an old friend, but I know it won't last long.
I am posting a video on Youtube that will show KWDZ's signal getting taken out by lightning. HD radio blows on AM.

But, now I have a huge hum on KSL-AM without "HD" radio. (Please, someone invent a decent way to do Digital Radio, that works for everybody.)

I'm trying to figure out the connection between thunderstorms and IBOC. The only thing I can think of is a backup transmitter setup that doesn't have the hash generator on it. Ken, such a system does exist and has for years. You remember Leonard Kahn right? The Kahn AM Stereo guy who lost to Motorola's C-QUAM? He's come up with the Cam-D digital system for AM. KDYL was running it for quite a while, but I"m not sure if they still are. There are samples at www.wrathofkahn.net and the whole story is at www.wrathofkahn.org/

KDYL produced and has continued to produce no hash what-so-ever. I'm all for this system over HD Radio.
