Since at least the DTV switchover Comcast in Weber hasn't been running KUEN on their analog cable feed. It's running fine on the digital simulcast. Did someone over there forget to flip the feed over or something? I don't watch it, but I'm curious. Is anyone on Comcast getting analog 9?

Nope. KUEN 9 is gone, but they've added 9.2 in digital.

This is very strange. As I understand it, non comm stations are all must carry. I don't see how Comcast can get away with not carrying it on the lifeline (analog) tier.

I read an article about WUSF-TV in Florida, which explained that an agreement was made between the National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA) and the Association of Public TV Stations (APTS) that requires secondary PBS stations in each market to choose either analog carriage (main channel only) or Digital carriage (with sub-channels). The primary PBS station would be the only one getting full analog-plus-digital carriage.

That explains our lack of many KBTC offerings up here. :-( How could that work in "Utah" TV market where there are 3 (using the term loosely) PBS stations? I'm assuming KUED has all its stuff up and KUEN is just the one channel - KBYU?

For what it's worth, I don't think that KUEN is a PBS station. If I remember correctly, when the State bought the license for channel 9 they were restricted from carrying PBS, because they already owned channel 7. Comcast is carrying both channels 9 and 9.2 in digital. On Comcast, channels 7 and 11 are carried in analog. In digital, Comcast has 7.2, 7.3, 11.3 and 11.4. BYU-TV (over the air on 11.2) is in analog on Comcast channel 21. I know that 11.4 used to carry HD programming in the evenings. I assume that is gone forever.

Some of the material on KUEN is PBS, though the majority is not.
The only reason I could see Comcast not running analog ch 9 is that they're using that bandwidth for digital offerings. I can't think of any way to be able to tell that though.
