In trying to figure out why channel 12 was no longer Univision, I stumbled into the Wikipedia entry on what is *now* KUTH. www.nwanews.com/adg/Business/228628/ After this, Equity went bankrupt and their assets are slowly being sold off. It appears channel 12 is going religious. *sigh* So that leaves "Azteca America" "Telemundo" "Univision" Spanish-language networks left. Oh, and Bustos' independent channel. Oh right, and Z24 flipped to some regional Spanish network since I moved. So I guess my question is - a) what does one receive over the air now in SLC? b) What has happened with these fringe full-strength signals? KCBU "Price" was RTN when I lived there, but it was only receivable via a translator to SLC. I'm surprised that Univision corporate and Telemundo/NBC corporate both wish to own and operate stations in Utah. Are both "T 50/51" and Azteca doing local Spanish-language news? The article above notes that Equity stopped as a budget-saving move.

Here in Murray I can receive the following Spanish language stations over the air: 7.3 Vme, 10.1 (widescreen) and 10.2 (SD) Telemundo, 10.3 automated weather in Spanish, 24.1, 50 (same as 10.2), 66 KSVN Azteca America. I'm not getting Univision over the air. I'm not getting KCBU over the air although they ID as being on channel 58 in SLC. And I have a big antenna. I see KCBU on cable and it doesn't appear to have any network. Soupy Sales was just on(?).
I don't know who's doing news. I don't speak Spanish and seldom watch anything on these channels, although my remote occasionally fails to move along when scantily clad Latinas appear.

Thanks for checking, Terry. Are you using a converter box or a digital-tuner TV? I am sure that the translator would (most likely) be analogue.
Also, in reading up on -CA/-CD stations, "Azteca" must run at least 3 hrs/wk of local programming. That was a valid move by the FCC, comparable to CRTC Can-Con rules. :-)

I'm using a digital tuner TV that simultaneously receives analog. I have received channel 58 in the past. No more.

Terry is right, channel 58 has been off the air since that big sale happened awhile ago. I get the same channels Terry does, however DT 10 has the hardest time coming in still.
I get KUTH 32 in Digital, but it too has trouble coming in (being it is on Lake Mountain).

SF, you did read about it once. talkingutahradio.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=utahtelevision&action=display&thread=315 KCBU went DT a while ago. Per the FCC records it appears it was 2004. Wikipedia says last December, but I don't trust what Wikipedia says. Reliable confirmation would be great. DX, you're in the Millcreek area, right? You shouldn't have any problem in getting KUTH/32 digital unless they aren't running at their full licensed power. The city grade contour should cover you easily.

I just happen to have a terrible TV antenna, that's why. KUTH comes in, but its signal strength is comparable to KULX, which is also nill a lot.
