May I now officially say: Salt Lake City radio is turning into a consultant-driven nightmare.
Hopefully PPM rewards KSL, U92, K-Bull, X96, etc. and not KOSY, KBZN, KJMY, etc.

While I am getting pretty excited to see what comes about from PPM, some things are just dumbfounding to me.
efff emmm one hunnnndreeeed(point threeee) song-tagging on live or VT stations seacrest kbzn NOW on a gold-based AC?? today's 106.5
There are more but those stand out the most. I also think the eagle should fly away and CC should bring back My Country. The market didn't need 4 FM new country stations, we don't need three, but if there were to be three, i liked My better than the Eagle.
KNRS would do well on FM too.

You would think that Clear Channel would have learned from the rebranding screwups they've done with their AC stations elsewhere in the country, but apparently not. Of course with PPMs it makes little difference what the station is called. You just have to get people to listen to it. I"m not sure how that goal gets achieved with this move. "Today's 106.5" is a BORING NAME. Then again FM100 or FM100.3 or FM100.365342 or whatever is even worse and they make it work so whatever. I say that if they were going to change it, they should at least make it better and not worse. What was wrong with KOSY? Are they planning on shifting the music again?
Speaking of shifting.... Something I noticed on the KO^H^H Today's 106.5 webpage. KODJ is identified as a, *gasp* OLDIES stations. You're not supposed to use the O word! Oldies=old! Are they crazy?!? <sarcasm off>

I got the next move that MUST happen in SLC.... Ready??
KUBL needs to add on a sung "point threeeee!" to the end of their imaging and jingles!!
----oh yeah and seriously consider song tagging. I could just see Pat Garrett cussin' each time he closes the mic!

I do like how U92 and X96 handled it.
They typically call themselves "U92" and "X96" respectively, with an occasional sweeper that refers to the station as "92 point 5 ... U92. Where hip hop lives." Or, "96 point 3 ... X-96."
Good memorable imaging.

We survived for decades with the rough guesswork of analog radio dials didn't we?
'Nuff said.
