Ok, I'm confused.
According to an FCC filing on May 1, 1010 (currently KPCW) is back on the auction block. The listed seller is IHR Educational Broadcasting (a Catholic outlet). Is this the same buyer that was originally announced? I don't think so, but I'm not sure. It looks like all references to 1010 have been removed from KPCW's website. With all the changes there, does anyone actually listen to it anymore?

Interesting. Thanks. Station sale prices are going down all over, so I guess that's not really a surprise. What is a little amusing is the time broker agreement that apparently is going to go into effect. IHR is going to lease the station for $10 per month plus expenses from Community Wireless. Dang. If they change their mind, can I get in on that deal? (Once IHR takes over it will run EWTN Radio.)

Ugh. How many religious stations can this area have?
820, 1120, 1510, KYFO, two (or more) religious translators. UGH! Am I forgetting one? I'm with you CA. If they lease it for 10 dollars per month, any one of us can format it better than the way it may go.

To be fair the $10/month is in transition to the station being sold to the leaser, so that changes the dynamic a lot. I'm sure they wouldn't do that for someone who just wanted to use it without buying it.
I don't know this for a fact, but I understand that the religious stations (specifically the ones who specialize in hundreds of satellators all over the country) make a huge amount of money. They don't get a lot of listeners individually, but when you add up a huge number of small groups of listeners it adds up.
Who else do we have in the valley programming religion.... I've got K-Love's KNKL 88.7 & 89.7, Calvary Chapel's 90.5, KYFO is on both 95.5 and 91.3 now, KUFR 91.7, and KMRI 1550. Did I miss any?

Unless something has changed recently, KMRI 1550 has been a Spanish language station for the past two or three years. They may broadcast religious programming during certain dayparts, but every time I've tuned to 1550, I've heard nothing but Espanol. I seem to recall reading something on line which indicated that 1550's owner made the switch from religious programming to Spanish because he could make more money brokering time to the folks who wanted to broadcast Spanish language programming than he could broadcasting religious programming.
