Another sad day in a series of the same. Soon radio's content will be a single voice tracked word and a solitary note. The word and the note will test highly though.

Radio is shafted. I'm going to be laughing all the way to my Wi-Max receiver when they think the music and a transmitter will hold up over time.
Who'd want to buy ad time on a jukebox?

Okay, so here's all I can figure out- KJMY 99.5- no air staff to cut. Someone else in the building is probably already programming/imaging/producing it. Hell, this could be centralized as they have similar stations in other markets - KCDA in Spokane-Coeur d'Alene, ID, for example.
KNRS 570 - if Lonsberry has a Utah-based producer, I guess they could fire him/her or what little news staff they employ and contract out with Metro. Our cluster did that for our talk station's traffic/news. Of course, CC already uses "Total Traffic" in-house.
KODJ - Been out of market to really figure out (based on the terrible Web site) who voicetracks where. The midday person made a blog post today so she seems "safe."
La Preciosa - already using CC's "spoke and hub" idea with syndicated hosts
KOSY - Unclear from Web site. No cut to Fisher or Peggy, I assume.
ZHT - No apparent cuts based on the Web site.
So... that leaves me to gather: Promotions - consolidations? Traffic - consolidations? Rumors were about traffic offices being 'spoked and hubbed.' Sales - any staff let go? Engineering - probably more contracted rather than full-time services?

I say we pool our money together and when CC goes completely bankrupt we can purchase a good signal at the fire sale. Start thinking format and what time slot you want!
Seriously, we should be rejoicing... one step closer to the possibility of REAL radio coming back (also the possibility that radio will suck even more... CRAP!)

You think he's kidding.... KYCY radio in San Fran tried that format a few years ago. (If you believe Wikipedia, it was the brainchild of Joel Hollander, which surprises me exactly zero. He's totally crazy enough to think this would work.) At some point they came to their senses and pulled the plug. It does live on as an internet stream though. www.kyouradio.com/
