KULX 10 (Telemundo) has added 2 new streams. 10.2 is a duplicate of the main 10.1 stream though doesn't seem to have audio (or didn't when I checked it.) 10.3 is weather information similar to KSL's 5.3 feed. The information on 10.3 seems much better suited to actually being used though. No silly pictures that tell pretty much nothing.

KULX have anything to do with KSL? Still hard to believe KSTU not doing anything with the sideband.
Oh Yea and one point why I was in SLC over Easter....4.2 Untamed Sports YUCK........But I'm not into killing animals so it may work for some of you all....

As far as I know, KULX has nothing to do with Bonneville/KSL.
KJZZ and KUCW also don't have any additional streams, but I suspect KJZZ is selling spectrum to somebody. I know they did before.

Several SL stations had been leasing subchannels to USD-TV, among them KJZZ. USD is long gone now. I don't know, but I doubt that KJZZ is selling spectrum any more.
When I checked just now, neither 10.1 nor 10.2 had audio. I suspect that 10.1 is a placeholder for a future Telemundo HD since 10.1 currently is oddly stretched. Analog channel 50, which has the same programming as 10.2, does have audio.

I see this too at the South Salt Lake rx. 10-2 looks better than 10-1 aspect ratio wise. 10-3 has weather that, like CA said, looks really good. Why can't KSL, a huge station, do the same?
Oh yeah, one final question before I go to bed... Does KULX have a weak signal for all of you as well. My signal meter (Terry would recognize) shows a low low signal, but I still get a clear picture. What's going on?

Actually I made a mistake. The suffix for KULX should be LD not DT. It's a low power station, which answers your question. It's only running 240 watts where a VHF digital signal for a full power station would be in the thousands.

But I'm about 12 miles as the crow flies from Farnsworth. It must be either my weak antenna, the station pointing its antenna at Ogden, or, my converter box is weak.

It's directional, but not *that* much. It should put a city grade signal from Ogden to Provo. www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=LD1297920.htmlI'll add Door Number 4. They might not be running at full power. Given the technical problems they're having, it wouldn't be a surprise at all if the transmitter was being run intentionally or by necessity at a lower power. It could also be a problem that analog 9 & 11 on either side are located right next door and would suffer interference if they were at full power. FWIW, I'm finding my reception of digital 10 is lower than what I would expect it to be, but I'm further away.

KULX-DT is sometimes hard to receive due to the full-power analog stations (especially 9 and 11) that surround it. It's probably best viewed with a good VHF or VHF-UHF antenna, and no amplifiers, since they will just add noise and distortion to the whole band. I generally get a "Noise Margin" of one to three dB on an analyzer. It should be better when the analogs go away.
"Signal" meters on the set-tops and TVs are really inconclusive, since they mostly look at the multi-path correction factors and correlate to a pseudo-S/N from there.

Good points Kenglish. I thought it was rather odd that my signal meter on my converter box is right at the bottom on 10, yet the quality is as normal as any other station around here. Maybe they are waiting for analog to kick the bucket to go to high power??

From my alt-rx in north Davis (one that actually has a VHF/UHF combo antenna) it's getting a barely usable signal from 10 with lots of breakups. We'll see in a month and a half.
