First off, I apologize if this violates a rule of the moderator's t.o.s. but I wanted to help get the message out to radio aficionados and I wasn't sure where else to get this message out! KUER normally doesn't do much pledge drive activity at night after Marketplace ends at 7 pm, but I am listening to Steve Williams and his great jazz choices I've always loved, even after moving away... all jazz stations in other markets I've lived in just don't have the same flair or the luck to have a good blend of vocals and instrumental jazz. Please consider making a pledge April 2. The Denkers Foundation has graciously agreed to make a challenge grant and phone volunteers will be at the KUER studios from 8 to midnight. It sure sounds like if the phones don't ring or the computers process, they may consider making more reductions to nighttime programming. I'd hate to lose Utah(and Pocatello, Idaho's)'s only source of mainstream jazz music. ... or any jazz music now that "smooth jazz" has been killed off at 97.9. www.kuer.orgsecure.publicbroadcasting.net/kuer/pledge.pledgemain

The only thing I'd take issue to is equating "smooth jazz" with real jazz. Other than that, you're golden. That reminds me of something I keep forgetting to talk about. There's another indication that the U is depreciating the jazz on KUER. The stereo pilot on 90.1 has been gone for I guess it's at least a month now. I don't buy that you get additional signal coverage by turning it off. There are hardly any stereo radios today that don't have some kind of a blend circuit, so they'll go mono when the signal gets weak already anyway. I'm not sure if that a sign, an engineering oversight, something to do with adding IBOC channels or what.
