We know a few more things about what's going to be happening with 88.3. First, the transfer of the station to The U was consummated back on Dec 20 and was filed with the FCC Jan 8. Second, the new callsign will be KUUB effective Wed Jan 17. It's not a guarantee that they will be on the air come Wednesday, but I wouldn't be at all surprised. It's still off the air as of this writing.
I'm also not seeing any new microwave STLs. The only one listed to KUUB is the original one from Library Square. I also don't see any microwave links listed to KUER either so maybe they use something else like internet. KUUB could use the HD4 of KUER directly off the air, assuming there isn't any reception problem due to the RF.

Well, I was close with my call letter suggestion. I had suggested KUUR for University of Utah Radio. I'm assuming KUUB is for University of Utah Broadcasting.

I was thinking University of Utah Bilingüe, but who knows.
No sign of anything on 88.3 yet. The new callsign is ready to go though.

Oh yes. Bilingue makes more sense. But they could go with broadcasting, I suppose, if they ever decided to change its format.

So we're still waiting for 88.3 to sign back on. At this point I'm thinking they're waiting for it to be warm enough up at the transmitter site to build out the construction permit for the bigger signal. That got me thinking. Might they upgrade the station to HD while they're at it? That might be a place to bring back a full-time jazz format. (The music kind, not the sports kind.)
