We haven't seen Nielsen numbers for K-Love in Salt Lake for many years. I have to wonder how much they care about them anyway. Back when we *were* getting numbers for them (about 12 years ago) they were getting about the same numbers that they're currently getting in other markets, so it seems reasonable to think that things haven't changed much. Those numbers aren't good, but I know that isn't the point. I'd flip 107.5 and let EMF find a new home down in the non-comm part of the dial.
What I'd put there would be based around the typical Oldies station: mid 60's through the 70's. (I know, it's about time.) Pretty simple. It would be heavy on the songs that everyone knows and that test well, but I'd want to throw in the occasional more obscure track every hour or two or three to keep things interesting and maybe turn the listener on to a great song they may not know. I wouldn't be looking to reinvent the wheel, just maybe shine it up a bit.

Is 107.5 now a non-commercial allocation? I thought I read that a non-comm could not be allocated to commercial.

Assuming that 107.5 is now a non-commercial allocation, and further assuming that needing to pay the power bills and bills for all of the engineering and maintenance was magically not an issue, then I would tell FriendLee and Utah Public Radio that I wanted to put KUSU on my station.

I don't know where you heard that Ken but as a general rule as long as the frequency is in the commercial band it can be done. I suppose it's possible some station somewhere might have a specific condition in its license, but I've never heard of it and since 107.5 was previously a commercial allocation I very highly doubt it's an issue here. Maybe you were thinking of TV allocations? That works differently but I'm not sure exactly how. For example there was the WNED/WNEQ situation in Buffalo if you're familiar with that.
