As I've said before I wouldn't program Spanish, so here I'd put a jazz station. (The musical genre, not the basketball team. ) I know there are a few stations that have some jazz programming but nothing full time. I think it deserves some kind of support.

I’ve always thought that if Latino 106.3 didn’t have signal challenges and Alpha threw some money and promotion behind it, they could’ve really been a problem for now defunct U92. At this point…If it were me, I’d shift it Rhythmic to fill that void but keep the Spanish vibe. Maybe create a few different tier gold cat’s and lean into some of the Chicano records that were big in the market circa mid-late 2000’s. “Wild 106…Salt Lake’s Party Station” think it has a nice ring to it?

I talked to the PD for a national programmer a few years back, and he said there was virtually no market for jazz, and not much for smooth jazz either. He said that the only people who listen to jazz just want the same songs, by the same artists that they have listened to forever, and won't even listen to any new jazz artists at all. I guess you and I are just old fashioned.
BTW...how many Spanish stations are there in this market, now. I know we have lost several lately.

He said that the only people who listen to jazz just want the same songs, by the same artists that they have listened to forever, and won't even listen to any new jazz artists at all. The same thing can be said for classic hits and that seems to be doing just fine. It's also been true for oldies and that did fine for a few decades too until the demos thing got in the way. Let's see. We've got 102.3, 104.7, 106.3, 107.1, 730/99.9, 1060, 1430, and I think 1580/99.9. There are a few part time Spanish station too. Did I miss any?
