It was announced yesterday that the Jazz will air all non-nationally televised games on KJZZ 14. Until this change the local telecasts have been on the regional sports network that was known as Fox Sports Net, Root Sports and AT&T Sportsnet since 2009.
I think this is a great deal for the Jazz. If you had asked me a few years ago if I thought it would happen I would have said no. The money that teams were getting from the regional sports networks was just too much. But things have changed. The RSN's are dying; something else I didn't think would happen. There is an interesting stat that Jazz owner Ryan Smith gave. Only 39% of Utah residents had access to the games. Pretty much everyone will have access now, so that greatly increases the chance to build a loyal fan base. It also helps the Jazz public image. They won't look like another do-anything-for-a-buck organization like pretty much everyone in pro sports is these days.
As far as the on-air product, there's probably not going to be much of a change. The Jazz were already producing their own broadcasts and there isn't expected to be any change in the announcers/hosts, so that's good.

Now I will finally have to get an antenna on the roof. Doing that was part of the plan when we cut the cord two years ago, but we found that we really weren't missing local tv, so we never did that step.

Depending on how close to Salt Lake you are you might be able to get away with an indoor antenna. I've used one as far away as Ogden and it worked just fine for the full power stations.

With the indoor one we have now, we can get some channels, but not others. We have not used it in over a year, so I honestly can't remember if KJZZ is one I can get or not. I guess I need to check.
