As before the idea is to imagine you're given ownership and complete control of 97.1. You have the resources (money, personnel, etc.) to do whatever you want with the signal without having to worry about higher ups on the corporate ladder, what clustermate stations are doing, etc. You can leave it as is, completely change it, or anything in between, but the ideas should be at least plausible/possible. What do you do?
I don't really see anything here to complain about either. They have good 12+ numbers with a younger skewing demo, so that seems like a good combination to me.

It really bugs me that iHeart and Cumulus have HD but don't run HD2 on any of their stations in Cumulus's case and all but one of their stations in iHeart's. They should give us an HD2 station there. iHeart has lots of feeds they could put on there. Maybe that gay pride station. I forget the name of it. The Pulse maybe? Oh wait, that's Audacy which doesn't have any stations in our market. I think iHeart has an equivalent, though. They used to have one on 97.1 HD2 called the Mother Trucker. LOL! It was a hybrid of country and southern rock.

How about an "All Tow-Truck Driver's Channel"? (Private joke, about a local guy that was claiming to be building one for SiriusXM and a TV channel for Cable 🙄)

I know we're stepping away from the premise of these thought experiments, but I think it's worth it.
Unless something's changed in the last few years, it costs extra to run more than one subchannel. The only subchannels that I can recall ever amounting to more than a blip in the ratings were the ones that were also on analog translators. Broadway uses theirs to compensate for signal deficiencies and feed translators. Bonneville has plenty of money so they can afford it. KSOP simulcasts their AM and that's a big help to their listeners who can get it. But iHeart and Cumulus? Both companies are in trouble and subchannels are going to look like flushing money down the toilet. The only other owner I can think of is Capital. Putting The Wave on a subchannel of 97.9 might help, but is it worth it?
In the context of working under the assumption that we have the resources we need it might make sense to add subchannels, but I think there are analog/HD1 stations further up the dial that in my mind should be replaced before thinking about stations that have a built in 2/3rds disadvantage.
