I've said this before -- 570 AM would have been the perfect spot for the Bloomberg business news format. Those who are its target market would have found their way to it.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Just because KNRS doesn't mention the 570 frequency doesn't mean it isn't being used. 5kw at the bottom of the dial really gets out, so 570 has a much larger coverage area than 105.9 does. There are listeners out there that can get 570 that can't get 105.9 and that's of some value.
On the flip side, Business 99.1 has barely detectable ratings. Even worse, how much of an audience is there in Logan or Nephi for the specialized kind of business news that Bloomberg airs? Even less than in Salt Lake, I'm sure. Bloomberg is aimed at executives and the like. They do business in Salt Lake during the day. 99.1 covers them fine and doesn't waste signal on areas where it would make no appreciable difference. I also doubt that Bloomberg would pay more to reach those far flung areas anyway, and I'm reasonably sure this is a leased time situation.

Didn't I read somewhere that 570 had a permit or plans at one point to go 50K during the day? That would have been cool. I wonder why they never did it? The cost perhaps. I sure enjoyed Easy 99.1. It was my go to station while it lasted. Sorry, just my opinion, but it was too good of a station for iHeart to keep it around long. I am just not a fan of that company. The way they tried to make it look like Tom Barberi had retired when, in reality, they had fired him. The way they refused to help Art Bell when he had his legal troubles. Ironically, both those guys are dead now. Two of radio's best in this guy's humble opinion. I wonder if there are markets where the Beck/Hanity/Noory stations are only on FM these days?

Yes, KNRS(AM) had a construction permit for 50kw days and remaining at 5kw nights. From what I can see the pattern would have remained the same. Not sure why they didn't, but that was approved back in 2007 before they went to FM and tried a second tier talk format on 570, etc. The view of talk on AM was different then. Would they try that again? First it would need to still be technically possible, but even then what would that mean in terms of billable additional listeners and how would that affect the affiliate relationships of the syndicated programs they carry? There's an additional power bill too.

I really don't see any advantage in KNRS 570 increasing power in 2022. Besides the fact that only about 20% of radio listeners listen to the AM band on a regular basis in 2022, the existing 5 kW signal just about covers the entire state of Utah with varying signal strength. Back in the days when my parents and I used to come to visit my grandparents in Utah & Idaho every year, mom and dad would listen to "KLUB 57" on the rental car radio all the way from Ogden to Pocatello before the signal would start to fade. Of course, this was during the early 1980's, when KNRS was known as KLUB and had an MOR/easy listening format. 🎶
