No, this is not the impending reactivation of the 3ABN translator that was on Ch 43. This is a brand new station that was won at auction a few months ago and has now filed for a construction permit. It fills the long vacant allocation on RF Ch 11 at Price that was previously KCBU. I'm pretty sure the virtual channel will be 3, which was the virtual channel KCBU would have used. You can see the predicted coverage area here: fccdata.org/?facid=776213Whether that theoretical coverage will hold up in the real world is a question. This is a VHF station, which doesn't work as well in digital as UHF. It will be interesting to compare reception reports. I'd also be interested to see if the owners file to displace either KUTB/18 or KSUD/33, both of which have been off the air for years, in an attempt to move to a UHF channel. I couldn't guess what programming 3 will have.

Well the FCC link you provided listed Marquee Broadcasting at the top. I did a quick Google search and it's a small broadcasting company that started in 2013 and owns several TV stations back east. They previously owned a station in Colorado. But nothing else is west of the Mississippi right now. The Wikipedia page showed that the stations had a variety of major and minor networks. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marquee_BroadcastingIt will be interesting to see what comes from this. According the map I'm on the edge of the range for the over-the-air broadcast. I hope that I can pick it up when it comes out.

Seems like the transmitter site is a long ways from Price (the COL). I never got to see a VHF DTV signal from channel 12, up north, but they had pretty good coverage in to parts of Salt Lake. I wonder how this digital will come in...and if anyone will buy the necessary antennas.

As far as I know there never was a digital signal from KCBU. They went dark when the analog signal was turned off in 2009 and never built out the digital one. This new station is a completely different facility with a different Facility ID number.
I don't know how many viewers would need to buy a new antenna. The last two I bought (a roof one about 6 years ago and an indoor flat panel about 12 years ago) are both rated as VHF and UHF combined.
And this just in...The permittee has just requested the KCBU call sign. Interesting.
