FM 100 "Point 3"

WHY?!?

Holy crap. With the move to PPM this is totally unnecessary! People won't even have to perceive/remember what station they listen to.

Is this to try to "freshen up" the station some still call (Lite) FM100?

So they are adding a "point three" instead of just saying "FM 100, KSFI, SALT LAKE CIIIIITTTTYYYYY"

Hmm, the thing I DON'T understand is, why would they try to fix something that ain't broke. FM100 was classic as it was, but now I wouldn't be able to listen to it... I guess I don't anyway, but it was the first station I flipped to when coming into town (since the Blaze moved to 97.5)... I guess I will try another...

....MAYBE!!!! "KOSY One-oh-six POINT five" really got the thinking that that was what they were missing over KOSY.

I figured it was from "Those who must not be named." Has the station's demographic aged that much?!? It's still leagues ahead in (12+) ratings share from its competitors.

This is a very good idea.......for 1989.

Back when digital tuners were new, it did cause some confusion. I still remember my confusion trying to find the old 102WPIX in New York. I finally figured out it was on 101.9, not somewhere in the 102's. Today, it's completely unnecessary. What's even worse, the "point 3" was tacked on as an afterthought and it sounds awful.

This is just a bad idea. Maybe Bonneville is just desperately clutching at straws?
