I kinda laugh when, over the years, people got their panties in a wad over this. I mean.. really offended. China trying to get their point across and convert people to their way of thinking or get them on their side on low rent AMS few have ever even heard of is like whizzing out the window of a truck going 80mph down the highway.
I gaurentee 75 plus percent of the time most people listening to these types of stations are radio nerds and a few people who are extremely bored.

Some people just aren't happy unless they've got something to complain about. Most of the AM stations in the U.S. that were broadcasting programming from China Radio International have either gone silent or been sold at fire sale prices. Apparently whoever was bankrolling the CRI "experiment" in the U.S. finally decided to cut their losses and quit flushing money down the toilet. Between the lack of listeners for propaganda programming and the cost of maintaining an AM station in the 21st century, most of the CRI and Radio Sputnik stations will probably go silent in a few years, or maybe even sooner than that. The marketplace will decide their fate, perhaps with some encouragement from the FCC rules & regulations. 🙂
